Restoring the Summer Village Walkthrough, Post 2, Year 1

Spring, Year 1

After speaking to Kusatsu, Tsubame and Hisui, go to the Request Board to collect rewards from your earlier actions.  At this point, you still need to monitor the Spring Village and there are more areas to explore in the Spring Wilds.

New quest: speak to all three .

Ema Plaques are:
Relive a boss battle
Buy from travelling peddlar
Defeat a Level 1 Buffamoo

New here:
Reach Bond Level 3 with some one
Learn Flower Blessings, Sacred Drum

Go speak to the residents one by one.

Hisui will tell you to change your name, that it radiates misfortune and you will surely die.  What this is really is a hint that you can go to her at any time to change your name if you chose the default at the start and wish to choose one of your own making.

She will give you a Talisman of Blazes.  A Talisman is a weapon used for Magic Attacks rather than physical attacks.

She also gives you some powders used as materials.

Aftwr speaking to Tsubame, walk to the Summer Shrine.

A cut scene shows a little girl but you can do nothing here until tomorrow.

Go to the Frogs and obtain Lucky Cat Recipe from one, Sunshade Recipe from the one in the Garden and a Chair Recipe from the small one behind the shop at the edge of the beach.  Activate the Dragon Save Point on the Main Road and save.  You cannot open the gates to the wilds yet, but you can return to the Spring Village to explore.

There were three new Requests on the Board.  I simply had to inspect the Board to obtain the rewards for all three.  I did learn the Drum Skill, reach Level 3 with some one and buy from a wandering merchant.

When I go to sleep, I am awakened with a slap.  Matsuri demands that I, as Earth Dancer, rescue her.  She gives me her kamiwaza, her Sacred Sword.

When you wake, Woolby tells you to go to the God Shrine.  There you meet the child avatar of Kanata who asks you to play hide and seek.  Find her each time by looking for the gold pin on the map.

Where she hides:
1. On a boat on the pier
2. In a Lotus Flower in front of the Spa.  Use the Drum Dance to open it.
3. Smash the crates at the back of the God Shrine to fibd her
4. She gives me the key to the Shrine, then vanishes but the sword is missing.

Kusatsu accuses us of stealing it, but Hisui does a divination and tells us it is in the Limestone Caverns.  The gate now will be open to the Summer Wilds.  This entire business took about an hour.

(Almost immediately after entering the Summer Wilds, you will see a sign advertising the Sage of Sweets.  This is a subsidiary quest at an island in the Sky.  You must make a series of cooked dishes to complete it.  All are Sweets.

Save your game at the exit and take a look at the Request Board before going further.  I have combat and trading quests.  Trading Quests give items Monsters have dropped either for rarer items, farming items like soil or Gold.

Combat requests now ask me to defeat 5 Buffamoo, 3 Oni and 5 Cluckadoodles, all Monsrers in Spring Wilds.  I decide to do these first so warp to Plateau Hill.

I dispatch Oni, Buffamoo, Woolies and Cluckadoodles, sweep a Jizo Shrine in the southeast, collect Crops (Onions) from four plots above it, and bless a Frog to gain Onion Slices Recipe.  (Murasame later will request Onion Slices.)

I grow and restore 5 Elm Trees and then chop wood and collect seedlings.

I warp back to Plateau Hill and go west, chopping the Wisteria tree on the way.  We defeat more Oni and Cluckadoodles.

I warp to Trio Jizo and decide to fight the Bear.  Collect from jars down there and find a secret cave where a Frog when blessed gives a Stone Pillar Recipe.

I ought to do a bit of farming in Spring Village before exploring the Summer Wilds.  I do have 11 mouths to feed!

It is almost 11.00 a.m.  i go to the Board for my rewards.  I talk to Croakie, have found 19 Frogs so he gives me a Fried Rice, Sweet Soy Dango, Green Dango Recipes.  He wants me to reach a total of 30 now.  I hear Murasame training and am reminded I have an event to experience at his house between noon and 3. I go to the Board for Cluckadoodle and Oni quest rewards.  There were only 3 Buffamoo on the map so that one remains unfinished.  I go to the dev zone.  Time does not pass in Building Mode.
There are Turnips here with 1 day to harvest.  I use the Drum Dance to speed their growth and harvest them.

I go to Takumi, build a Flower Stall, make a few decorations and ask for a request.

Takumi Request 1: 2 Eggs

I go then to Iroha and take her request:

Iroha Request 7: deliver 3 Turnips

I go to Murasame's House where an exclamation point triggers his Event.

Too much training!  Every one is worried.

I ask if he has a Request.
Murasame Request 10: Classic Omelet
Fortunately, I happen to have one with me and give it to him.
I give him Onigiri, speak to Hina and then Mauro.  I am anxious to go to the Summer Wilds but simply speaking to Mauro raises his Level to 3!  I can speak with him after leaving the baths, receive birthday gifts from him.  He gives me:
Adventurer's Cap Recipe.

What does it mean when the game announces you can speak to some one after leaving the baths?  Once the Summer Vilkage is restored with its goddess Matsuri back in place, Kusatsu will open the baths at his Inn.  You need a Bath Ticket to use the baths, but they are given out frequently and found as well in the wilds.  'Speaking to some one after leaving the baths' is a random event that raise Friendship Levels a little.  You usually will receive a gift as well in the form of Food or Drink.

I have no funds now, so decide to go adventuring in the Summer Wilds.

Reading a wooden sign introduces the Sage of Sweets Quest.  As you go through the area, restore trees, gather grasses, open chests,  and find and activate Frogs.

To the left, crates, a pot and Jizo Shrine. Some grasses.  Collect the Onigiri after sweeping.  It may appear trivial but cleaning all the Jizo Shrines in Azuma is a Subsidiary Goal and you receive letters of gratitude and Rewards for doing this.
Ahead is Purple Blight that can be destroyed only with the Sacred Sword.  Step in front of it where you see the round 'target' and press A to use the Sword Dance.

You will find a chest on the beach containing Iron and Vanadinite.

A red Wayside Shrine further ahead gives an Uchigatana Recipe, a Zweihaender Recipe.

Carry on down the beach.  You find an air vent you cannot use yet and a Cooking Fire and a lantern where you can recover Spirits points nestled against the cliffs to the left.  A chest there contains Bronze.

Beyond, three Jizo Statues.  Sweep there.  I got Withered Grass this time.

To the right, four plots containing Pumpkins and Pumpkin Seeds.  Harvest all of them.

Return to the beach and cross the shallow water to another purple Blight.  There are two round blue blightbloom targets for this one.  Use the Sword Dance for both.  You can mine here as well.

Back to the Beach where you encounter Toad Samurai as well as Oni and more Kappas.  The Toads can poison you so be careful.

Fuether, to the left on the beach, more Purple Blight with three blightbloom target points, also more enemies.

Now look to the right and you may see grass growing in the water and a little spur of rock beyond.  On the Map, you will see a Frog is out there.

Although there was a sign earlier warning of deep water, you can run across here.

First though, there is a Frog on a rock in the middle of the sea.  Go there to obtain a Bronze Bracelet Recipe.  That is an upgrade that will aid you, but frankly up to now, I have lost none of my HP fighting here.  Shortly, however, we will face a more powerful monster in the form of a Tengu.

Cross the water to find a Frog at the top of a hill that gives you the Ketchup and Tomato Juice Recipes.

To the left, four plots with ripe Tomatoes.  Collect them for the Tomatoes and seeds.
To the left behind these plots, a small Frog gives you Potato Croquettes and Veggie Croquettes Recipes.

Go down now and run round the rocks to collect ingredients from jars and mine.  Climbing a low rock formation, you will be challenged by a Pheasant Tengu.

If you look on the Map, there are other Frogs in this area but they are on a high rock that requires a Sacred Treasure you will obtain later when you rescue Fubuki, the God of Winter.

Here is a point worth making.  Frogs you have NOT blessed will appear always on the Map.  Once you bless them, they are removed from the Map.

The Map really is very useful.  Enemies are shown as red dots.  Grasses, Mining Rocks, Wayside Shrine and fishing areas are displayed.  Any Save Point you have activated is displayed in silver with its name and is a Warp point.  Any Save Points you have not activated are displayed as welk but as ??? and greyed out.  Always try to reach as many Save Points as possible as quickly as you can in a new areaas you then can warp back to them instantly.

Another importanr icon is the Jizo Statue.  Try to clean them aa soon as you encounter them!  It saves you a headache at the end!

Any characters are displayed with their icons if you look at the area of Azuma where they currently are located.  This is very helpful when you wish to meet to give a gift, complete a request or trigger an event.

If a character has not been introduced yet, like the mystic Ikagura, you will see his icon on the map but with ??? instead of his name.

If you run through the water back to the beach now, passing the Frog on his little rock, you will see another Frog almost directly in front of you.  He gives you a Wooden Lantern Recipe.
Carry on up a rock incline to find a Chest containing Smelling Salts.  You also will hear a singsong voice:

'Little onigiri, rolls and rolls and rolls'.  Just a teaser as the location is further on.  The Rolling Onigiri Quest is anotber subsidiary Quest that gives special Rewards.

Beyond the chest is a new Save Point.  Save here after activating it.  Look at the Map and you will discover it is named the Open Pavilion.  You will see two Frog Icons here.  Go to the right of the Save apoint for a Frog that gives a Pickled Cucumber Recipe.  In my game it is 8.00 p.m.  I turn back and run past the Save Point to experience the firat Onigiri Event.

At this point in time, I only have ordibary plain Onigiri but it is the right choice.  I am offeres a reward to choose a big or little basket.  I choose the small one:
Butter Roll Recipe
Silver x 3

Whichever you choose, the Recipe is included.

Find the cave behind these areas and climb up rocks and fallen logs to find the other Frog Statue, giving you the Ice Cream Recipe.

I return to the Save Point.  If I face the Beach, I see four plota that contain Cucumbers and Seeds.  I harvest them.

Go back down the incline that brought you to the Save Point and move forward to the end of the beach now.  Beneath the rocks under an upturned boat is a Frog that gives you a Wooden Barrel Recipe.

I cannot farm in Summer Village yet so I warp back to the Spring Village. It is after 11 p.m.

When I go to Emu Alley and report to Croakie, he tells me I have found 26 Frog Statues.  I need 4 more for a reward from him.

I hear the sound of Murasame training.  Walking towards him, I experience a little event.  We learn he is like a man possessed, no thought for anything but training.

This allows me to begin tracking his first Bonding Quest:
Getting to Know Murasame 1

This is the first Bonding Quest in my Quest Menu.  Bonding Quests are the second tab.
Here you will find the Quests you have initiated with any conditions.  This one states:
Reach Bond Level 4 with Murasame
Advance the Main Story
Wait until tomorrow

If you ascend the stairs to the God Shrine, you can speak to Ikaruga although he will not introduce himself.  His friendship is impossible until he makes that introduction and that occurs much later.
It is interesting to know he is some one you can court and marry and not the only one you must fight and defeat before that becomes a possibility.

Here it may be worth cautioning you as to refraining from fixing your heart on some one too quickly.  Many characters are not even introduced until later in the Main Narrative and marriage in many cases requires that you firat save Azuma.

I made certain to ship some Crops and went to bed.

I initiated interactions with Hina and Suzu giving both cherry blossoms.  Every one likes them.  With Mauro and Ulalaka, they rank higher as favourites.

Suzu at Level 3.  This means random events can occur when you leave the baths at Kusatsu's Inn and you can receive birthday gifts.

Suzu Request 11:
Veggie Criquettes
Reward: 5 Red Grass

I do not accept it now as I cannot make the dish.

I find Murasame and give him onigiru.  He reaches Kevel 4.
Murasame: 'The friendship we've forged is my most valuable possession.  I treasure it as much as I do my own dream.

Level 4 means we can have dinber together, a random invitation you can accept.  He gibes me Murasame's Pauldron Recipe.

I ask fot a request:

Murasame's Request 4:
Deliver Vanadinite Fragment
Reward: 5 Cabbage Seeds

I have this item so accept.

I used my Drum to accelerate growth, then harvested as many crops as possible with the Sacred Sword.  This gives you a better chance of the next level of Seeds.

I find Ulalaka at her sgrine, give her cherry blossons, reaching Level 3, ask for a request.

Ulalaka Request 10:
Deliver 3 Fletch
Reward: 5 Turnip Seeds

I have these so complete it.

This initiates a new quest with Ulalaka:
'Living up to the title of Chief'
Go to Sacred Tree between 9.00 a.m. and 3 p.m. to experience it.

Ratger than going to the Summer wolds, I go to the Tree to ex I eriwnce Ulalaka's event.  It concerns the abandoned houses.  Sakaki asks us to see if they cqn be repaired.  We enlist the help of Takumi anx other carpenters so the hones can v
Be ready for the return of their owners.

A new Event will be avqilalvr witb Ulalaka tonorrow.

Now I warp to Plateau Hill to co.plete the Buffamoo Defeat Quest.  I go southeast to a wTwrfall to activqte a Frog for a Wooden Mallet Recipe.

North of the Pkateau HillSace point is another Frog between two rocjs who gives a Rickety Fence Recipe.  There is a jar above it with Butter.

There arw more Frogs on the Map but I need to rescue the Summer agoddess so I go to the Request Board to collect my rewards from the Buffamoo Hunt.  I accept the following:
Oni Hunt x 5
Cluckadoodle Hubt x 5
Deliver 3 Strong Claw
One more Deliver 5 Strong Claw
Deliver 5 Fletch
Deliver 5 Cheap Cloth.

The delivery Quests tend to appear daily.  The rewards here are Lumber, Material Stine and Gold coins..

Yoy can complete the Oni Quest by fighting your way down the Sumner Shores or warp directly to the Open Pavukion and find the Hqnging Bridge.  As yohcross it, see the ayoichi Target and hit it.  Yoichi will appear and give you Pickled Eggplants Recipe.
Almost immediately after crossing the bridge, find a Frog to your right.  It appropriately gives you a Bridge Recipe and a Stone Stairs Recipe.  Going forward, there are Trees to revive and a new Hanging Bridge Save Point.
Further to the left down the hillside, revive a Mandarin Sapling.  It may give you a seedling.  There is a large jar which for me fave Preaerved Bonito and another Frog giving an Orange Juice Recipe.

Climbing the rocky inclibe you will find another Pheasant Tengu.
Go bqck down to the beach where you will find Toad Samiurai and  Lantern Phantasm.  There is Purple Blight here.  Do your Sword Dance then open the chest for a Fire Crystal.
Fuether down the beach, another ablight to destroy wuth the Fire Sword.
If you run beside the cliff, you will find a rock to mine and a Frog that gives Shrimp Tempura and Tempura Udon Recipes.
To the right near here, a crate that gives you vegetables and another mining rock.
Look at your map and thread your way between rocks bqck to the beach where a Ferocious Oni and archers await you.  There are two Blights where the water neets the sand and pots containing spices.

If you continue along the beach as much as possible, you will meet more archers, Ferocious Onis, and other enemies, but you will see a new Save Point named Limestone Caverns and the Entrance to Limestone Caverns that looks like a revolving white circle to the left.  It is after 11.00 p.m. now.  I save at the new Save Point.  Below, there is a red Wayside Shrine that gives a Round Shield Recipe, a Takenaga Ribbon Recipe.  A few steps away, beneath an overturned boat a Frog that gives Tuna Salad Recipe and Tuna Onigiri Recipe.  It is after midnight and I am losing Energy fast but I run, hugging the cliff to finf a Jizo Shrine and then a Frov that gives a Summer Stone Recipe.  I warp back to the Spring Dragon Shrine and save.  Losing Energy, I race to the Shipping bin.  It is empty.  I fill it with enough to pay my villagers and have a thousand gold coins for forging better gear tomorrow.

Warp back to the Shrine and sleep.  In the night, a chest is delivered.  A nother reward from the Jizo Statues, Rice x 40, Poultry & Egg Bowl Recipe.

It is 6 Spring.
Quest to raise  Ulalaka to Level 4.
Firzt I go to my Spring dev zome, use the Drum and Sacrex Sword to speed growth and harvest.  I plant some Level 2 seeds but my villagers really must earn their keep.
I exhausted my RP in the process.  I can use some Turnips to make Pickled Turnips to restore 20 RP with each.
At the Board, I have completed the Oni Quest for more building materials.
There are some tradw requests on the Biard so I complete those.
I accept all the hunting requests again, then go to Croakie.  I have foubd 33 Frogs anf he promised rewards for 30.  He gives me:
Chipsqueek Doll Recipe
Corn Salad Recipe
Veggie Salad Recipe
Tofu Salad Recipe
Vegetable Juice Recipe

I give Murasame Onigiri and he returns the gift with a Chestnut.  This is a significant item in his history.

Every one is seated benesth the Sacred Tree.

I give Ulalaka Cherry Blossoms.
I save my game before I ask for her request.  Fortunately, it is one I can complete.
Ulalaka's Request 7
Defeat 5  Level 1 Oni
Reward: Bamboo Shoot

I give Mauro Cherry Blossoms.  He goes to Level 4 and gives me Amber in return.
We now can have dinner together, a random invitation when the individual is seated at any restaurant.

I am off to the Limatone Caverns, but stop at tge ablacksmith first.  I forge the Adventurer's Cap and Murasame's Pauldron, equip them both and use my old equipment to improve the equipment of my friends.

It is 10.00 a.m. when I enter.  I collect the grasses, work the mining rocks, defeat the Kappa.

We go down the hill to fight Toad Samurai and Kapp, collect more grasses and mine.  There are little pools above on the left where one can mine.

As we trigger a wall of flanes closed combat zone, I find a Frog on the right that gives the Mayonnaise Recipe.

I am at Level 19 now.

Acanopy on the left with 2 Cucumbers in a basin beneath it.  We go forward into shallow waters.

To the left a Kappa.  Another Kappa jumps down from a cliff.  After defeating them, go up to the top to find a chest containing Recovery Potion and Energy Portion and another cucumber in a basin.

A little Japabese lore here: Kappas traditionally dwell in lakes and pools.  The offering they prefer is a cucumber.  They need water to survive so they carry a little dish of water on their heads that are shaped to hold the basins.

Look at the Map to see a fork in the path.  The left is the destination but go right first to find a Frog.

Going towards the Ftog, however, triggers another wall of flame closed combat zone that includes a Toad Samurai.  There is a fishing pool here but you only will gain a rod at the Winter Village.
There is a soecial ice rock for mining rhat gives you Ice Crystals.

The Frofmg is beneat a canopy abd gives a Cucumber Roll Recioe.

Going forward, a Kappa under a canopy wirh a basin offering that contains a cucumber.
Now you must use the Sacred Sword to clear purple Blight.
Be wary of the Spiders that attack here.  There is a geberous mining rock behind the Blight.
Go forward to clear another Purple Blight to the left.  Again, Spiders lurk to attack.

Moving forward triggers a wall of flame and Pheasant Tengu.
Moving forward, you encoubter Water Wispd.  They give Spirit Clusters Hisui likes to receive as a gift.

Mpve ahead to spy more blight and trigger a little event with Woolby.  This introduces you to a new sumituatiob where the target is tok high to reach.  You need to 'add fire to your arrows'. Aim with your bow with the Sacred Sword equipped.
As I use the technique, Murasame reverently whispers:  This is an Earthdancer's true power.
Simply incredible!'

I have to admit I love the way all the guys are admiring and suppirtibe instead of resenting my abilities.  Not like the real world where my peers in the Law Faculty wanted to toss me in a fountain because I won the prize for best exam results.

Go foreard to activate the new save point, walk through the gates, engage and defezt the Spectral Knight.

With his fall, you recover the Sacrex Sword but it needs to be reforfed.  Go ti the Spring Bilkage.  The blacksmith will be standing in the middle of the dev zone.  He agrees to do the woek and gives you the reforged Sword.

Rwturn to the beach at the Sumner Village.  Hisui will tell you the ceremony must be held at night so return then to the Summer God Shrine.
On the screen, you will see that you need to return between 6 and 9.

It is 3.  I go to Spring Wilds to complete the monster hunts.
More important, there is a Purple Blight northeast of the Small Pond to clear.

The Spring Onigiri hole is beyond it but ai do not have the onigiri it needs flavoured with Miso.

I rwturn to the Spring Village because I completed Ulalaka's Request 7.  I see her to reap the reward and then go to the bosrd to complete the Oni Hunt request.

I have an hour before 6 to defeat Buffamoo and Cluckadoodle.  I manage to find 3 Buffamoo for one quest and all the Cluckadoodles.  I return to the Board for rewards before warping back to the Summer God Shrine.

Go to the Summer Village at 6 to see the gold pin in front of the God Shrine.  As you walk towards it you see a notification that the event will end only at 9.
In other words, if you had more work to do, you probably could return between 8 and 9 to experience it and lose fewer hours.  I reconsidered, revisited the dev zone in Spring, sorted out shipments, planted more crops and then went both to the Smithy to make and then sell cheap items that gave the most profit.
Ratger than selling bronze ore, 8 had him forge Beonze abraceletd qnd sold tgem.  Rather than selling mareial stone, I had Takumi make decorations to sell back to him.  He commented about the hard life of the poor.
I then rwtylurnrd to Summer, and walked towards thw hold pin st the agod shrine.i blessed the Sacred Sword and what an effect that had.  The volcsno erupted, foreworks burst aceosd the sky and Matsuri cataoukted from thr heavens knocking akusatsu to the ground.  She thanked me for saving the sword but then told me I had to continue to help.  A villager ran towards us tgen telling us Monstwrs were attacking.  Go now to the Summer Wilds to experience this event.  You find yourself in a circle of fire with a few Monsters that include Water Wisps and a Fallen Warrior.  After dispatching these, more appear and Matsuri deals wirh them.  The Village is no longer threatened.
Return to the Village now to speak to Kusatsu.
Kusatsu will tell you the Inn now is open, apokogise for calling you a thief
He gives you a bath ticket and you didcover both HP and RP are fully restored once daily by a bath, or visit to any secret hot spring.
You now should speak to Hisui.  The Map shows her at the Dragon Shrine.  Warp there qnd then walk outside to speak to her.
She asks you to become village chief and then requests that you build a General Store abd a Teahouse.
She gives you recipes for a General Store and for an Ocean Flag.

I have two Ocean Flags.  I rush back to Takumi and with judicious crafting and sales manage to obtain the funds to build a Reahoude abd a General Store.  I also have an extra Flower Stall and I build a Humble House for Summer.
It is 10 now.  I return to the Summer Village where i see both Purple and Blue Blights in the dev zone.  There are multiple Purple Blightblooms on both sides of the road.  I destroy them all with the Sacred Sword, thrn place the Teahouse Geberal Store and 2 Ocean Flags.  This satisfies the Main Quest and I need to speak to Matsuri so she can raise the Village level.

She raises the Village to Level 2.

This gibes the following:
Carpenter Recipe
Bakery Cart Recipe
Simple House Recipe
New street vendors are Tofu Shop and Sweet Store

We speak of my mandate and she tells me to go on to the next Village but that I always am welcome here.

Because of everything else I did in the dev zone here, she can raise it to Level 3.

I obtain the following:
Woodfelling Hatchet Recipe
Shipping Shed Recipe
Hill Recipe
Now supports up to 8 villagers
Supports up to 65 decorations
Blacksmith has new items
Can organise new Contests

It is almost 11 p.m. on 7 Spring.  I am ready to restore the Autum Village!

I fly to Autumn, meet Kotaro abd Yachiyo.  New quests on the Board are:

Forge Woodfelling Hatchet
Reward: Apple Juice Recipe, 5 Apples, 3000 Gold

Construct and place Soy Sauce Distilkery
  Reward: Sugar Refinery Recipe

Use Sword Dance to harvest seeds
Reward: 5 Roasted Tea Leaves, 1000 Gold

Learn Festival Fire
Reward: 5 Recovery Potion, 5 Energy Potion. 5000 Gold

I go to the Skill Nodes and use my points both to unlock Festival Fire and Blessings of Fire.

More new quests apoear.  One is to find a secret Hot spring.  The other is to grow a Level 3 Crop.  Both for another day.  I go to bed!
