Proposing Marriage, Guardians of Azuma
It is 23 Spring in my second year. I could have proposed marriage to any one I actually wished to marry about a month ago, but I decided to experiwnce courtship with all of the Eligible Girls as well before I did anything. Thus, here I am.
I only planted the Plum Sapling after experiencing the last of the Bonding Events that remained. On 23 Spring, I have collected a White aplum Branch from the tree. I made the Sacred Drink long ago and have been carrying it with me. I alwaya wondered what would happen if I offered it as a Gift to some one.
Woolby actually forgot he had given me a sapling and recipe previously and somehow did it again, but there was no duplicate sapling afterwards.
I admit I fantasised about Kai for most of my single life after he finally began to interact. His disappearance at critical times frustrated and alarmed me. I beat the game as quickly as I could to keep him above ground and available!
So he ought to be first.
Well, first of all, I had a devil of a time finding him this morning. I was nervous and he was in one of those private areas he favours where he can appreciate the beaury of the sueface unobserved. By the tine I found him, he was sitting at Yachiyo's... I was far too nervous to obaerve whether he was drinking sake at 8.00 am. or actually having a good breakfast.
After my propisal to Kai, I saved in a different file: File 28 now will be dedicated to my marriage to Kai.
Here is how the proposal went:
With both proposal items in hand, there ia a new option when I speak to any Eligible character, all Events done, and at Level 10:
Want to go to Fateweaver Shrine?
Here is Kai's response:
Fateweaver Shrine...? What about it? Are we gonna take basket weaving classes or something?
Me: No, not at all.
Kai: Oh...Well, as long as I'm with you, I don't care where we go!
And then I discover I must wait until tomorrow for this to occur!!!
I suppose the gods were amiling upon this rather bizarre partbership UlI chose but amazibgly I caught mt first Flounder today at the former Sage of Sweets Island.
On 24 Spring, Woolby announces the Fateweaver Event and declares he will take me there himself. I guess he forgot I have been there before to explore and collect recipes. He must have forgotten I need him to go anywhere in the skies as well.
I meet Kai and speak to him. Usually he has made no reference to any upconing date we have made but today he said: 'Today at the Autumn Dragon Shrine by 12.00 p.m., right? Dunno what's there, but I'm dyin' to find out.'
At moon, I enter the Autumn Dragon Shrine. Kai enters and sits at the table where I cook. I now have two options:
Inspect
Talk
Choose Inspect and it asks you to cook...
What follows is amusing, touching, heartwarming. I do not know what sort of a husband he will be but his enthusiadm and recognition of my importance in his life is wonderful. Made my day!
So I gave him File 15 in case I want to experience the proposal again. Silly me!
I do not understand. I am returned automatically to the Village. Kai dies not ackniwledge the marriage, nor doea ant one else. I proceed to test the waters by patting Ikaruga's head, holding hands with Murasame... how is this allowed? I am stunned!
Perhaps tomorrow will be different. Did I give the wrobg rwsponse when I told him I wanted to be with him forever?
Of course, the actual wedding needed preparation and occurred the next day. It ended at 8.00 p.m. at the Autumn Shrine and after demanding we choose new nicknames as husband and wife.
Kai immediately went to slerp in his futon, snoring loudly when I moved closer to investigate.
When I went to the shipping shed, all it had was the domestic Monster products. I guess all my farmers took a holiday for our wedding. Luckily, I keep items in storage for such a catastrophe and gave them 99 of some furs and fabrics.
He actually wishes me good ight when I go to bed.
We have two sets of Wedding Attire now to wear.
26 Spring:
Next morning, I see him climb out of bed to sit by the fire. He tells me not to forget my lunch and gives me a Garlic Cutlet.
When we exchange a kiss, he tells me I have guts! I guess it was a more erotic kiss than before.
As I leave the Shrine, he calls out: See you around!
What does this mean? Does he intend to work a little to pay off his tab finally or is he going to loll about the table in what now us our Shrine drinking all the Azuma Sake I placed in storage?
Another question: was he actually homeless until I married him? He was barred from his hone in the Underworld, then handed it over to Ura. I love the fact that he has no interest in profit or material gain, but we need to think about providing for the children we soon will have. There is a rumout to the effect that the gestation period is five days, brief rather like my fish.
Om our Wedding Anniversary:
I have experienced marriage with four individuals now: Kai, Subaru, Ikaruga and Mauro.
All are very different. Of the four, Subaru was the most disappointing. I think if you want to be like a mother to your spouse, Subaru may satisfy that. He is not an equal. You have to carry a spider out of the Shrine when he recoils in fear from it.
Mauro is a wonderful spouse actually and he brings out your own desire to travel and have new experiences. He also brings out your own insecurity during courtship as you fear he will leqve Azuma. Once married, all that disappears.
Ikaruga is interesting. You have an incredible influence upon him by loving him, but he still is very food oriented. If you are a 'foodie', you will respond to that.
Foe me, however, rather to my surprise, Kai is the ONE. He is constantly supportive, and essentially happy and he will tell you that at every opportunity. It really is through Kai's efforts that you are able to save Azuma. He is your partner from the moment he commits after you restore his power. People say negative things about him and perhwps one flaw is that he promotes some of that image himself. He is far too honest for his own good in a sense, wearing his heart on a sleeve, concealing nothing.
He is devoted by nature... devotion to the onis, devotion to Azuma*, but especially wholehearted devotion to his fwmuly which means you and your children.
*An example of this is when he speaks of Hina and how happy he is that she is deeply interested in exploring the culture and history of Azuma.
To some extent a diamond in the rough, but a lot smarter than he appears. He pulls at my heart though because he is eternslly an outsider, bring half oni and half human, rather defiantly wearing an oni masque on the "surface' to affirm his identity with beings despised by the citizens of Azuma. The onis like him evidently as Ura, when he wins the sumo contest, admits that he never was truly accepted when he usurped Kai's position and castle. That the onis are willing to follow Kai to the surface for his mock war and be pelted with beans is a testament to his popularity as well. Kai definitely is an interesting guy.
