Lord of the Underworld, a Refugee, Underworld Part II
28 Spring:
Kai opened the Gate to be able to reach Ura last night but it was close to midnight.
Today we returned to fight him. He adds some large Onis to the battle but we did manage to defeat him. With my efforts to raise Village Levels, I have few funds to outfit any one but myself yet. I have to rely on my Drum Dance to heal any one who weakens.
If you are interested in advancing your friendship with Kai by experiencing any Bonding Events, you only will unlock the first of them by defeating Ura.
As soon as I did, 'It's an Oni's World' became available.
In fact, the pin is there now by the Autumn gate
I follow him into the Underworld.
I think: 'What can he be planning?'
He is in the area where we fought Ura talking to an oni.
He has experienced life on the surface and wants his people to be able to do the same but they actually consider the Underworld home now.
After, because I have Level 5 Friendship with Kai, I should be able to experience his next Bonding Event tomorrow.

Before I return to the surface, I go to the Wayside Shrine to the left of the drawbridge and steps.

I go to the Winter Shrine to experience Fubuki's Event.
Ikaruga is leaving as I approach, and tells me his shikigami have nothing to report.
Fubuki's Event has many different themes. Kai and Kurana arrive and engage in a snowball fight. Fubuki tells me the story of the Winter Blossom. I offer to help him search. Kai and Kuruma meanwhile make a mess of his shrine.
I go to the God Square where there is a pin and experience an event with Kurama, Kotaro and Tsubame. I win the game they are playing with marbles.
It is 3.00 in the afternoon. I walk towards the Aurunn Gate where there is a pin.. it initiates the 'Off to the Underworld' Event with Hina. Hina is talking to Kai. She begs him to take her to the Underworld to find an ancient text about the Heart of Viatrea. He protests that it is too dangerous. She suggests I go as well. This pleases Kai and he says we can meet when she is ready. The next Event with Hina is 'What Fascinates an Archaeologist', and we must wait a day. The next event with Kai must wait a day as well.
Getting to Know Matsuri II likewise must wait until tomorrow.
Cuilang is on the other side of the road at the Autumn Crossrosds Save Point. Just speaking to him raises his level to 4. Now I have the quest: 'Defining Cool'. Must go to Cuilang's House between 10 and 4.
It is not yet 4. The event begins with Kotaro asking for a toy that is really cool.
After consulting with Kai, you must go to the High Street of the Summer Village to find Matsuri and Kusatsu for their definition of cool.
Back in Autumn at his house, Cuilang gives Kotaro the wooden drone he created. Kotaro loves it but remarks that he asked for a pinwheel. Cuilang is disappointed in himself for his failure to listen to the precise request. Getting to know Cuilang II requires Level 5.
Events that can occur today:
Ikarugas Event from 5 to 11 at Yachiyos
Ulalaka's Event from 6 to 9 at the Spring God Shrine
If you look at recent Events, you will see that many require Kai. If he had not become an active character yet, they probably could not occur. Some require access to the heart of the Underworld which means you must have defeated Ura.
I try to visit the dev zones in each Village daily. It is raining in Spring so no need to water, but by placing a Wisteria Basket and two other decorations, it qualified for Level 8. Autumn has so many little gardens and resting places. I found both Ulalaka and Fubaki seated on benches near Cuilang's House. She raised the Spring Village Level. I now can make a Taiko Drum.
This brings me to another amazing resource in this game. Your Inventory is not restricted to the contents of yout backpack. There is a tab for Recipes. These include not only Recipes for Cooking but for Forging and Constructing both Buildings and Decorations. It allows you to see precisely what you need for anything you may wish to make.
In the Camp Menu, the Adventure Log is extrenely helpful. Once we had a Bookcase in our home that gave us this information but this goes further. You do have tutorials for every conceivable aspect of the game but what is relevant to Inventory and completing a Recipe is the Bestiary. Your Bestiary shows every monster you ever encountered, with details as to where they can be found and the items you can obtain from them.
What it does not include are the items needed to befriend them, but often these will be the same items they 'drop' or one of that same type but of a higher quality.
In the course of the battle with the three Bears, a little chipsqueek hopped into the area. I tried to befriend him. He wanted neither Strong Fur nor Quality Fur bur accepted one of the only Chestnuts I had. I really need to plant more trees!
Ikaruga's Bonding event is unlocked.
We find ourselves in the Path of Fallen Leaves. There still are trees to be restored here and a Frog to the west at river edge.
My Party fought with me when I aided Ikaruga. Only then did I realise Kai did not rejoin my Party. I restore the Trees in the area and find a new Save apoint to activate but it is 7.30.
I go to Yachiyo but no mention of the event now. I am able to cook a new dish with Matsuri, however, since she reached Level 6 and it uses Grilled Onigiri. We make Greatest Grilled Onigiri.
Ulalaka is there and invites me to have dinner with her. I accept.
29 Spring:
A number of events involving Kai this morning. First a visitation from Kanata, who begs me not to find her. Kai tells me we have to ignore that in the same way we ignored Kurana's wishes.
I go to the Autumn Plaza to experience his event with Mauro and Kotaro where Mauro urges him to remove his mask just for a peek at his face. He makes reference to the carnivals in Italia where every one wears a masque. Kai refuses. To see the end of this event, I must sleep at the Spring Dragon Shrine.
If I go to the Autumn Gare, I will experience the next event with Hina and Kai. As I am there, I will do that first.
I walk towards the gate and find Mauro, Hina and Kai all there. Hina accuses Mauro of eavesdropping but he responds that it is the natural instinct of a treasure hunter. Kai understands and sympathises and says Mauro simply wants not to miss the party!
We then must meet at the Keep of the Underworld. Sadly I wait at the entrance and let them explore without me. When they return, Hina and Kai tell me she has written down some legends she needs to translate.
Kai is a fascinating guy. He admires intelligent and powerful women and is not the least bit threatened by them in the sense that he feels no need to compete. He accepts me as an equal and loves to have me at his side. He is thrilled by the increase in my fighting skills and wowed by my Earth Dancer abilities. Whenever I heal him, he responds: 'Appreciate it!'
Kurama on the other hand can be either arrogant and dismissive or kind and appreciative. He is not comfortable with himself and part of his conflict with Kai I think is based on a sort of envy of Kai's straightforward and essentially honest acknowledgement of his own flaws.
Fubuki is another self doubting soul who is obsessed with a need to atone. Knowing his secret makes this more understandable. His hatred of violence stems from the wanton violence of his twin. My problem with Fubuki as a romantic partner of that he is so much like a younger brother. His deference towards Sister Spring is sweet but furthers that image for me.
Meanwhile, the next event with Matsuri requires me to go to the Summer God shrine.
Murasame still remains under the spell of the yoma. He is a consummate gentkeman always but far too obsessed with his training, even at the Festivals I attended with him.
Mauro is always exuberant and quick to tell me he loves me but I feel he spreads this love everywhere. It is not really that personal. I am loved in the same way he loves the Lucky Cats in Hisui's shop. Although I am much like Mauro myself, with a zest for new destinations, treasure quests and beauty, I do not gravitate towards him romantically at this point.
It is hard for me to resist Kai, even though I have a family with him in another 'path'.
Experiencing events with him again simply makes me care about him more. I do intend to marry all the eligible partners ultimately.
My own nature causes me to gravitate towards Subaru first after Kai and for the women, Clarice and Pilika although I do like all of them. Iroha is my least favourite for her obsession with shopoing and her own appearance.
Kanata matches Kurama both in arrogance and their desire to run away from society.
Ikaruga is to fixed upon food although he is very atrractive. I am sorry I could not romance the Hound. Why he has to disappear completely I cannot fathom. His utter devotion would have been extremely interesting if one could have changed his focus from Clarice to oneself.
I get ahead of myself here, however.

Event with Matsuri:
She is training and she abdicates her role as Summer Goddess to find the one who took her sword and beat him to show she is the God of Swords. She runs off to the Limestone Caverns. Kurana asks me to follow her.
Enter the Limestone Caverns amd you see a pin almost immediately. She is there and asks where the Grudge Knight is. You show her the way to the chamber where you fought him
Now you both see how he died...so fixated on being the strongest warrior he neglected his wife and family. Now forever he will hold a grudge that he died without becoming the very best.
Matsuri takes back her titles and her duties.
Pilika actually is behind an Abandoned House in the Winter Village. It took forever to find her!
She wants two Rainbow Trout.
I looked for her because her Bonding Quests do not even appear. That means I had neglected her.
I give her Honey and she advances to Level 3.
Before you, I never spent much time with any one outside of my family. But being around you is well... not bad.
I go to Hisui's Shop to experience an interesting event with Hisui. She gives Ikaruga two bath tickets.
I now need to go to Kusatsu's Inn between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m.

And a Frog on a narrow path circling high rocks gives Ring of Winter Recipe.
I was searching for the King Wooly. There were no monsters at all on about half the Island, then an Iron Tengu, Oni Archers and finally on the right, the Giant Wooly with two little Woolies. I tamed him with Large Fur and sent him to the barn.
Kai: Couldn't resist my charms! Welcome to the team, my new minion!
We go to the Fishing Island to fish and caught Golden Salmon, Throbby Snapper and Glitter Snapper.
To experience Kurama's flying event, you need to leave the Village and then return through the Village Gate. Walk to the pin. You will see a prompt that the event will not end until 9.
The event begins with Mauro takung a backgammon board to Kurama. Villagers then ask for help with missing children. Kurama takes you to the Spring Higlands. You need to go on to the Guardian's Grove to fight the Cursed Tree. After an old man assures Kurama he never was hated, and he agrees to play with children again.
30 Spring:
Murasame went to Level 8 simply by talking to him.
I went towards the pin at the beach to the left of the Summer Shrine to experience Matsuri's next event.
She is training again, and when I speak to her she says she wants to organise a Bon Festival for the spirits of the dead to find safe passage. She thinks of the restless Grusge Knight. I tell her it is a great idea.
I forgot to sleep at the Spring Shrine last night...
I find Ikaruga and raise his Level to 5 with Tempura Udon. He gives me the Mystic Cap Recipe.
I can experience his next Bonding Event by going to the Winter Request Board.
To experience Pilika's Bonding Event, I need to go to the forest in the Winter Wilds.
I need to raise Cuilang to Level 5 before I can experience his next event.
I have neglected Iroha. I need to raise her to Level 4. And it ia her birthday today!
Today's my birthday! Think I look a little more ladylike now?
I give her Dango I purchase to celebrate her birthday and she goes to Level 4. I feel better about it now.
This is exciting: I can cook with Kai now. The basic dish available is Sweet Soy Dango.
We made Hellfire Dango together.
I also can choose Grilled Onigiri to make with him. We made Oni-Giri together.
Iroha has a Request for 2 milk. As soon as I complete it, her 1st Bonding event loads. I suggest colour and presen tion matter. As soon as the event ends I am asked to provide her with 10 green grass and 10 cherry blossoms. It is a new Event: New Dango Ingredients.
Both the gold pin and a marker are in front of Iroha's door. I have the items she needs but the event refuses to occur. Iroha in fact is not outside. I leave the village, walk back and find her outside her teahouse now. I choose something else, then: Here's what you wanted.
Iroha: Wow, thanks a bunch. 'Every one else pitched in to help too. They should be back any moment now...'
The event continues with Sakaki and Ulalaka giving supplies and support. To experience the next event, wait until tomorrow.
I can experience Hina's Event though if I simply go to her house now. So I do that. She tells us the legend about the heart of Viatrea.
There are two Frogs still on Prisoners Island. One gives Gag Arrow Recipe.
I then glide to a small islabd with a chest containing INT Maga I and a Frog behind a rock that gives Ring of Autumn Recipe.
Far north at the top of Wolf Mountain a chest containing smelling salts and a Frog with Salmon Onigiri Recipe.
I tamed the White Wolf with an Ice Crystal and Ninetails with her own Bell.
1 Summer:
I sleep as instructed at the Spring Shrine. Summoned by Ulalaka at 6 but the event will take until 9 so the whole day will be wasted if it happens now.
I go to Sumner Village for Matsuri's Event planning a Bon Festival. I tell her we need ro build a tower. Next stop is Takumi who says he needs 10 Iron and 10 Lumber. Matsuri is at the little zen garden in Sumner Village now. I give her the materials and we go instantly to Takumi who says he will build the tower.
It is Matsuri's birthday but at the same time the Summer Village can increase to Level 8 so she does that.
I raise Hina to Lv 6 and she gives me Seed Cap Recipe. We can cook together now.
I go to Winter Entrance and an event occurs instantly before I can move. A mother has lost her child, asks me to rescue in Autumn Fields. The child and I see the Black Wolf and then I take him home. Ikaruga comes forward and tells me I should leave them to their own devices.
I go exploring to Sunrise Island to activate the Save point. Clear two purple blights using the sword and fight onis but next to return to the Spring Village to the God Shrine so do so.
The event is a drinking contest between Kai and Ulalaka. I walk with Kai home after and he speaks of his dream again to bring his oni to the surface. I tell him he would make a good liaison.
A journal is a record of life and some days, there is very little to record. On other days, events almost overwhelm.
Before the event at the Spring Shrine, I tried to interact wirh people I had neglected.
One of these was Watarase. The result of showing him my Pescapedia was a host of new recipes, including one for a better fishing rod. The latter appeared on the Ema Board as:

Yet my day had not ended. Going to the Winter Village to see if Zaza could forge anything, I decided to place decorations I had in the dev zone. I was close to Level 7.
In fact, reached the % requirement so went to the Winter Shrine and asked for help as it was after 10
Fubuki gave the blessing and opened a new dev zone at Level 7.
The new dev zone has purple blight with four blightblooms requiring the Sword Dance four times.
And I accomplish even more...
Placing a Taiko Drum, a Cooking Fire and a host of other minor features in Aurumn meets the requirement for Level 8. I go to the Autumn God Shrine and knock up Kurama. He gives his blessing and the following:

New development zone here as well... but it is almost midnight, so I am going to bed.
I built a Thatched Roof Cottage for the new zone in Winter tonight, but I will not be at all surprised if Woolby tells me in the morning that we have insufficient housing. After all, the population of Autumn will expand as well.

I go to the Autumn God Shrine for Kai's event. Kotaro is there and I realise I have neglected him a little so I give him a Blade Shard.
Kotaro: Ooh, I love this! Is it really for me? Thanks!
Walk into the gold pin to experience a bean throwing event. 'Oni, out! Good fortune, in!' Kurama refuses to allow the children to use him as a target but, with me there, Kai volunteers. After he thanks me and says he had fun. Moreover it has convinced him more than ever to bring the oni out of the Underworld. He also declares he will have his revenge on me!
In the process of making a Shrimp Sandwich to complete a Request for Kurama, I see I can cook with Hina now using the basic Butter Roll Recipe.
We made Fossil Bread.
I alao discover I can use a basic Grilled Crucian Carp to cook with Murasame.

This actually is the reason to advance non-marriagable characters to Level 6. Each character can make two dishes. What is required in every case is two elenents:
1. Character at Level 6
2. Having unlocked the basic Recipe
Murasame is almost at Level 9 but Watarase gave me the recipe I needed only a day or so ago.
I gave Sakaki Tri-Colour Dango because I had no Pickled Turnips. He advanced to Level 5.
I walk into the marker in ftont of Zaza's Shop. Ikaruga is upset because she has not completed his order. She still needs 10 Iron. I am asked to go to Limestone Caverns to find it even though my backpack is crammed with Iron. Go halfway into Limestone Caverns to a Quest marker. Ikaruga will tell you he hunts the beast because his Master died saving him as a child. He asks you to return to Zaza with the 10 Iron she needs while he investigates the Autumn Fields.
Giving Zaza the Iron unlocks 'Getting to Know Ikaruga 3'
but the requirements are:
Reach Bond Level 6
Wait until tomorrow
When I gave Cuilang Iron, it unlocked his 'Always Under Repair' Bonding Event.
Requirements are:
Head to Autumn Village 5 to 7.
As far as Kai is concerned, I must wait three days for his next Bonding Event.

The event with Matsuri is about the Bon Festival. Takumi has made an incredible Tower that reaches the very heavens, sturdy and well constructed. Matsuri curiously wants to test the strength of it so she delivers the hardest blow she can and down it comes. She runs away... I have to convince her it is fine, that the Festival still can be held.
Now for Hina's Event:
Head to Spring Village 3 to 6
A little early still so I warped to the Limestone Caverns Save Poibt. There was a Black Oni nearby with a cloud of confusion. Defeating him rescued a villager named Araru whose output is 5, and is an Ore Appraiser. Are their identities random or fixed?
Going to Spring Village, quest marker on the road between dev zone and God Shrine. When I reach it, I am told it will not end until 6.
In this event Suzu is missing. I go with Hina to the Plateau Save Point and we call her name. Kurama appears then to tell us she was found in the Winter Village trying to sort out a supply of fish from Watarase to help Iroha make more money.
I never cleared the rubble from the new dev area in Autumn so did that. Built Elegant House and Thatched Roof Cottage.
I will spend the rest of the evening exploring. I saw I missed a Frog at Autumn Kagura Shrine so went there first. It gave me Matcha Recipe. Also a chest containing Rich Soil, red Soil, Clay Soil.
One more chest near the Save Point with Lucky Loupe. That is a good accessory, boosting Rare drops.

3 Summer:
Matsuri's Event must occur between 7 and 10 p.m.
Cuilang's Event between 5 and 7 p.m.
I really need to spend some time in combat. All sorts of monster elimination requests on the board now.
In the depths of Gale Pass, two Blightblossons of Red blight and a Wayside Shrine that had Flamd Rat Spirit Talismans Recipe, Cavalier Bow Recipe, Emerald Pauldron Recipe.
The event at Ikaruga's House, one of those Abandoned Houses very close to Winter Village Entrance will not end until 9 so I back off for now.
'Did you remember to wash your hands? They say that love makes food taste better. I wonder if that's true. From Workers Udon, he makes Workaholics Udon.
This now became very confusing. I went to Ikaruga's House. It was after 7. There were two separate markers.
One announced the event would end at 9.
I chose the other one first. It was an event with Ikaruga and Hina. He and she exchange knowledge. At the end, she speaks of her hero and how she wants to be like that.
I then walk into the other marker. This is Ikaruga's event and it has more than one part.
You start by asking him if he intends to fight the monster alone and he says he does. You insist on helping. He tells you to pick up his order from Zaza and then from Cuilang in order to help. You discover he did it himself prior to your meeting with him. You must find him now in the Aurumn Fields now between 7 and 9

1. Head to Autumn Village 6 p.m. to 9.00 p.m.
2. Go to Winter Village 6 to 9 p.m.
3. Head to Autumn Fields 6. to 9 p.m.
Hina's Quest: My Hero
Head to Ikaruga's House 6 to 9 p.m. This is the event that will not end before 9.
Too late for Cuilang's Event. I go to clear a large blight area in Autumn. Save at Remote Shrine.
Two tengus attack. Behind them, green blight I clear with the Fan. Up a stone stairway to a beautiful deserted Shrine with a Frog to the left that gives Inari Sushi Recipe and Kitsune Udon Recipe.
Rurning back from the shrine there are two maple trees ai need to restore. This is a chipmunk area
Facing the Shrine again, cut across the forest to the right to find a Frog behind a hut with wooden washing bucket that gives Washing Spot Recipe.
I turn round completely and run, to the right of the Shrine, past two high rock areas to a Frog overlooking the river that gives Critical Ring Recipe.
I can see the Pampas Plain Save Point far below in the distance.
Time to go home. It is after 11.
4 Spring:
Kusatsu wants me to defeat a Bear. I remember one on the outer Isle. I go to the Hanging Bridge and climb upwards past the Tengu. I open my parasol and glide easily across the water.
The Save Point is up high near the Summer Torii Gate. Chest beneath the Gate contains Gravel Path.
I open my parasol and glide to the next high area on this island. There is a Frog here that gives Cheese Omelet recipe, Meat Omelet Recipe
There was a small Tanuki up here. It turned out to be a villager when we defeated it.
There is a Jizo Shrine up here.
Opened the Parasol and glided to the third small outcrop where there is a Frog that gives Meat 'n Tofu Recipe.
I now had to return to the Autumn Village to experience Cuilang's Event. It is sunset and Woolby and I come upon him. He is repairing a fishing rod for a villager. When he rushes off, we remark that it seems he cannot refuse any request.
To experience the next event, I have to wait until tomorrow.
I have so many personal requests that require I hand them in. I forgot I had not done so!

I could confess to Kurama that I loved him now but I am going to wait until all the eligible partners are at that point.
I see that Summer Village can be raised to Level 8. I see Matsuri and she gives her blessing. Level 8 gives a new dev zone that is an island you only can reach by warp circle outside Hisui's shop. It is multi-leveled and filled with rubble.
I need to experience the last part of Ikaruga's event. The Quest simply says Head to Autumn Fields and to do so between 6 and 9.
This event is tricky. There is a quest marker but the Autumn Wilds are so vast that you may miss it. You need to go towards the Western Knoll. Pass two Oni Archers and veer to the left to walk into rhe marker and trigger ths event which is a significant one.
Ikaruga faces the black wolf and a child lies on the ground behind him. You tell the wolf to attack you instead but it turns and leaves.
Ikaruga now is in your Dragon Shrine. He is hurt. He talks again about how he as a child cost his master his life. You tell him his master would be proud of him now. The event ends with you outside the Shrine. You now simply need to raise him to Level 7.

Keep going to the right down a hill to find a green blightbloom and destroy it with the Fan Dance.
Keep going to find the Autumn Onigiri hole.
Again though, out of time. I go to the Sumner Village and warp to the new dev zone. I clear all the rubble.
5 Spring: At 6.00 a.m. I walk out the door of the Autumn Dragon Shrine to find Ikaruga. Kai is missing and Ikaruga suspects he has gone to the Underworld.
This is an event I love!!!
I find Kai rallying the Oni. Hr has decided to take possession of the surface by force. I am horrified. I beg him to stop. It is obvious how fond I am of him. He says it has gone too far... Kurama and the village children are ranged against Kai and a host of Oni.
The children are throwing missiles that turn out to be beans. One hits Kai in the eye and he takes off his mask unthinkingly. I see he is gorgeous. He is horrfied that I have seen his face, but he starts to laugh, confessing that the 'war' was nothing more than a bean toss.
After the Event, I give him a gift in Autumn Village. I could tell him now 'I love you' but I will wait.
I save at Autumn Crossroads. As soon as I turn towards the gate, I experience an event with Cuilang. He is about to go to the Inari Shrine for materials. When Woolby and I tell him we care about his safety, he begins to get error messages. Something is off here! He needs Scrap Metal+ and Scrap Metal.
I have both but would like some more Scrap Metal +. Save your game at the Remote Shrine then go up and to the right to find the Inari Sheine. If you walk behind the Shrine, you will find two Mining Rocks nestled against the hill. They randomly contain Scrap Metal+.
There is a Tree to the right of the Inari Sheine I need to revive also I do that.
To the left of the bridge to the north and east that crosses the river is a Frog that gives Full Moon Udon Recipe.
I cross the bridge and save at Riverside Bridge area. There are Frogs and blight here.
There is a Secret Hot Spring if you go north and to the left of the Save Point and scramble up sone rocks.
To use it improves Critical Hit Rate.
I find two Rocks that require Kai's Mask. There is a double door down there that is locked. There is an air vent near there, but I go north to Purple Blight and destroy it
There are Frogs in this area but I will return to the Village now to give Cuilang his materials...
