Rewoven Fates: Subaru
This post deals with the period between accepting a new fate and accepting godhood once again after my first child was born in this new life and I delivered the heart shards again to Mihoshi Habaki.
On 14 Winter, Year 12, after obtaining Tsubame's Cutout at Level 12, I took my courage in both hands to return to the Fateweaver Shrine and interact with the Orb that sets a different path in motion.How could I write a comprehensive guide for this game if I ignored a significant option?
I confess I was perfectly happy with my life with Kai and I wish to return to it. At the same time, although I have other files where I still was unmarried but had planted the plum sapling, I now have achieved almost everything and this way, I do not have to search for the few remaining Frogs again or anything else that was incomplete at that point.
Rewoven Fate: Subaru
I therefore went to the Summer Village, found Subaru and confessed my love. He told me to meet him tomorrow for his answer
I did experience ALL the Bonding Events for every character before I finally proposed to Kai. Will I experience all of Subaru's Events again now?
I do not understand this fully.
No one lost any Friendship, but I suppose what is lost is the Romantic link I had. Kai is still Level 25 and every one else at least at Level 12.
It is said that you can return to your other life and find it intact. I hope that is true. It occurs to me that this might be a way to have different children with the same spouse but one thing at a time.
Note here that, should you be interested in experiencing different lives in the same file via the Fateweaver Shrine, it would be best to court only one individual, marry and then go to the Orb for a second fate BEFORE you have a child. Continue to go to the Orb, choosing the eligible partners one by one, marrying them one by one but returning to the Orb almost immediately afterwards.
When I find Clarice outside Yachiyo's, I have the option to confess my love to her as well. I see no point in doing what I did before when I went through every Bonding Event with every one before I finally proposed to Kai. This time, I will choose one and move forward at least in this timeline.
And when I find Kai, he is wearing the clothing he wore for our wedding and it appears I could confess my love to him again! Will things change in the morning or is this indeed what is now in this other fate?
He has not lost his power over me at all at all. I turn from him reluctantly and fall into the deep pool below... confused and bemused by this new situation.
I took every one to the Forest of Endings, Lv 1 and again found an Oni Toppler near the midpoint.
(Note here that I still had all access to the Forest of Endings because I had finished the Quest with Kai's son but if you have a child in another fate, you will be given the Quest again.)
15 Winter: I met Subaru at the Summer Beach at noon. He told me he has always loved me. There was a suggestion of calling him Sooby-Doo but I refused. We will meet tomorrow at the Summer Dragon Shrine at 2.00 p.m. to visit the place where the Black Dragon was vanquished.
I found a Bear Toppler today at Fo E Level 1 in the top northwest corner before the endpoint.
16 Winter: Hina's Birthday. I give her Kitsune Udon ro celebrate.
Matsuri has been part of my Party since choosing this alternate life and her levels increase quickly in the Forest of Endings but mine still is 164. On the plus side, all Sacred Treasures apart from the Fan now have all Skill Nodes. Working on the last Fan Skills. I have 21 of 23.
I met Subaru in back odmf the Summer Dragon Shrine at 2. The Event lasts until 5. Woolby flies us to the place where he died and he speaks of his life with her. A petal fallen becomes a scale. He makes an offering to her. On the flight back, he teases Woolby.
It is no one's idea of a romantic date but as we both admitted, closure will help us both move on.
I have to confess that the problem both with Clarice and Subaru is the way they harp endlessly upon tbeir own guilt. Every one else has forgiven them. If they continue to speak of it even after marriage, I shan't be spending many days in that path.
I ran into Kai outside the Pernafrost Izakaya and invired him to join me at Yachiyo's. Quite an event ensued.
Kai: Isn't Yachiyo's cooking good? Like, devilishly good. The seasoning pairs perfectly with a little booze. Though it tastes good with anything, if I'm bein' honest. You can't stop at one bite-- you keep going 'til you've licked your plate clean.
Me: Wait... But you're not drinking right now.
Kai: Hey, it's not like I drink EVERY day of the year... I think.
Me: That's not very convincing...
Kai: C'mon, I don't think twice about throwing one back anymore. You expect me to remember how many dats ut's been? Like anybody would!
Me: i don't know about that...
Kai: A-anyway! My point is that I wanted us to eat here today.
Me: Thank you, but um... why?
Kai: To help you understand why it's my favourite joint. Duh! A top-tier god has a top-tier sense of taste!
Me: Sure, but I think any one would agree that Yachiyo's a top-tier cook.
Kai: Hey, enough with the modesty! If you can taste the difference in quality, then you're already one step ahead of the rest of the world! (Hell, yeah!) Now order whatever ya want. My treat!
Me: By 'your treat', you mean 'your tab', right?
Kai: Psshh, details! That's for a future me to worry about. Or not. Wahaha!
Me: Hahaha... Okay, fine. But only one dish.
Kai: Wahaha, what a blast! If you're gonna do this again, hit me up so I can clear my schedule!
18 Winter:
The next date with Subaru is an interesting event as it begins with a dream visitation from the Black Dragon. She is concerned for Subaru and wants you to let him know hw bees not mourn for her. You awaken late and run to meet him. You then go to Kusatsu's Inn for the Couples' Menu. Oddly when tbis date ends it is 6.00 a.m. all of this occurred automatically.
In the course of this event, you display some jealousy.
19 Winter: Hate to wait until this morning even to make another date. It is scheduled for 3.00 p.m. at the Spring Dragon Shrine tomorrow. Kusatsu has asked him to perform a dance. I tell him we can do it together. Jealousy again is seen here. Neither of us are comfortable with the idea of some one else being involved.
20 Winter:
The dance practice date begqn at 3 and lasted until 6. I could have gone later, a little closer to 6 but I do not have that much to do now. Afterwards, I asked Pilika to share a meal at Yachiyo's. It resulted in a little event that was a lecture on valuing all lives. She enjoyed sharing the meal, however.
21 Winter: Woolby awakened me with the 3 day warning about the next festival. I suppose I should invite Subaru.
Subaru reached Level 15 and gave me a Life-Sized Kaguya Cutout Recipe!
There are so many more Quests for Subaru than for any one else. Iroha probably is second in terms of all the Events you must experience, but Subaru is at the heart of the narrative of Guardians of Azuma. You are intended to marry him after you cease to be enemies. The entire tale of his relationship with the Black Dragon is revealed only if you court him.
What is wonderful about this game is that you can experience every one's events and then choose whom to narry. I chose Kai, not Subaru but always felt I might be missing something, not knowing what sort of a marriage we might have. Even more wonderful is the ability to experience more than one life. I now am at the point of exoeriwncing Subaru's final bonding event. I will invite him ro the Snow Festival. In this second marriage effort, I am at Level 165. I just finally finished acquiring all the Skill Nodes for the Sacred Treasures.
I have most Crops but not all at Level 9. I spend a few minutes each morning harvesting and replanting to try to increase the levels of the last few.
I am paying more attention to XP now and how it is earned each day. I have free time, so I choose the longer interactions to see how they go with each character. Kurama disliked 'Musing about Monsters' which surprised me. I thought it would be an intellectual topic he might enjoy. I was surprised that Pilika liked going to the waterfall. I thought she would resist showing her bear attributes. Actually her bathing outfit is adorable!
22 Winter:
I have been a little remiss here. I believe it was the 22nd when I experienced Subaru's last Bonding Event, but it could have been the 23rd.
I have not played very far as a boy, but I expect the Bonding events with Kaguya are different. In the course of Subaru's Events, you discover she was far more accomplished with archery, especially on horseback, and in swordsmanship than he. I guess I will have to find out for myself once I have completed a few Rewoven Fates using my own identity.
'Getting to Know Subaru 7 is now available'.
In the quest menu, neither time nor location are given. The only requirement is reaching Level 10 and I am at Level 15. I wonder if it is an Event that occurs only if you propose to him. I do not think I experience any more Events with him previously. So now I shall see as I intend to do precisely that in this timeline.
I have been a little careless where farming is concerned. I began to really target specific crops only after I ascended to godhood, trying to increase them all to Level 9 anf have a decent supply of all of them on hand. I was glad I had enough White Crystal Flowers to make 4 Kaguya Cutouts, one for each Village. In doing so, however, I depleted my stock. The highest Level of seed I had for the flower was Level 6 and I had only one bag of those. I had 16 of the Level 5 Seeds. At the Flower Stall, however, they sold only Level 5. This made me realise it is only by using the Seed that you unlock it at the Stall and I think only after you harvest it! I planted my single Level 6 Seed and it changed nothing.
I have a Flower Stall in each of the four Villages. It can be useful to know that, although there is a limit of purchasing three of any seed, you can do that in each of the Flower Stalls. Likewise Lumber and Material Stone. The limit is 20 of each but if you have a Carpenter in each of the four Villages, you can buy 80 of each by purchasing from each Carpenter.
23 Winter: Woolby awakened me this morning with a Plum Sapling and the Recipe for the Sacred Drink. I had thrwe Sacred Drinks in my Inventory actually. I doubt I lost the Recipe.
He gave me the speech about how he would take me and my chosen one to the Fateweaver Shrine when I was ready. I immediayely went to the back of the Shribe to plant the aplum Seedling, thwn rushed off, planning to propose to Subaru.
Well, I cannot propose to any one until I have the Plum Branch plucked from the tree in my hand. I believe it takes about five days to grow to the point where I can take a branch.
My only option was to invite him to the Snow Festival so I did that.
So now another waiting period. The New Year is close at hand. I wonder what would happen if my planned wedding day were to conflict with the New Year. I kind of suspect they will clash if I do not delay my proposal.

It's not that I can't do that sort of activity, but rather that I'm reluctant to ever repeat it.
Why do I bother???
I have had a quest from Tsubame for ages to defeat Level 65 Kappas. I find Lv 125 Blue and Black Kappas on FoE Level 2.
Ikaruga is in my party. He keeps repeating himself: 'If you find any talismans, please show me and I'll teach you how to use them...'
I finally reply: 'Those days are over, my friend.'
If there are any unopened chests, I doubt they contain talismans! Some sort of MAGA if anything.
Subaru is in my Party as well. He keeps telling me how much he can learn from me but I am beginning to find that a little annoying. Admiration and respect are all very well and good but why does this seem a bit over the top? And I have not even married him yet!
The Snow Festival was sweet with him. The only person in the Winter Village apart from Subaru was Pilika sitting alone on a bench. As the Festival music theme played, I interacted wirh her but still felt sad. Why could we not go to a Snow Dome together? People who live here and work here were praying at the Shrine but no one with whom I am friends.
26 Winter: The branch from the Plum Tree was ready to be harvested. I plucked it from the tree and went to see Subaru
Now the first option was: Want to go to Fateweaver Shrine?
Like Kai before him, he did not understand the significance of the invitation, but he did understand it was a date.
We agreed to meet at noon on 27 Winter at 'the Dragon Shrine'. I wonder if it can be any of the four!
27 Winter: I forgot how complicated this was. First, Subaru was inside the shrine seated at the table. He told me he had dreamt of the Black Dragon. I ask him to go to Fateweaver Shrine. He says he will... but you then must go there alone abd then find him there, walking into the gold pin.
After that, you confess your love and he confesses his. When that ends, you will be on the island with your Party and need to return home with them.
I went island hopping. The chest I had missed on Sky Pirate Island
was reached by simply dropping down where there was a large wind vent and a Frog I had blessed in the past was there as well. The chest contained Earth Boost Maga I.
I go to the Island with the Goldblosdom Mibes. I think it is called the Abandoned Island. There is a large fishing area but I have trouble reaching it. The little round warps go to different altitudes. I finally simply use the Parasol twice, once to launvh myself off a little woodennplatform and reach it that way. I catch nothing rare. Just Tuna, Bonito, Octopus, Yellowtail.
I think 'I'm getting married in the morning.'
Yachiyo lectures Kai:
Yachiyo: Kai, the key to fishing is patience.
Kai: Nnh. Am I done now?
Yachiyo: This is what I'm talking about. You're not even close to done.
Kai: All right! 'Bout time we wrapped this up!
Yachiyo: I do wish you'd wrap your tab up sometime this century...
Kai: C-come on... You gotta bring that up NOW?
28 Winter:
The chain of Wedding Events begins at 6.00 a.m. in this instance, the Congratulations and blessings occurred before the marriage ceremony.
We then go to Rin who officiates.
After, the awful business of changing the nicknames. The whole sequence ends at 8.00 p.m.
As with my marriage to Kai, it appesrs to have bern a global holiday. No one wirked the fields at all. I spent my remaining waking hours doing that.
29 Winter:
Woolby tells me the wedding almost reduced him to tears.
Subaru made me Tuna Onigiri for my lunch. Ah, I miss Kai's Garlic Cutlets and Ginger Stir-Fry. I suppose I will have children here and then return.
As for Subaru, his first act was another Request for a rare fish!.
Luckily I had a few. Finding the 2 Flounder he requested before was a nightmare.
Now Iroha's Request, and with a sense of dejá vu for me, as I did the same request only a few days ago. I am starting to think they repeat indefinitely.
I am beginning to use the other interactions with every one noe as ai have plenty of time on my hands.
I was shocked by Tsubame's response to a visit to a Shrine:
How is that an aimless stroll? She obviously is not very spiritual. Kai is profoundly reverent in such circumstances. His blessing upon my marriage to Subaru was beautiful and Kurama actually mocked it a little. I kind of hoped Kai might have shown a little desire to take me away with him... but perhaps he understands the cosmic Wheel has me as his partner from age to age...
Subaru is very dashing of course. He puts me in mind of those Chinese influencers who go about taking young girls in their arms and whirling them round in romantic fashion... and then they take a selfie and he goes on to the next one. I often wondwrvifviy is a free service or if they charge a small fee for access.
I just realised we did not dance together after the ceremony yesterday. I rather hoped we would. He expressed it as his greatest wish after all.
I have both Kai and Yachiyo in my Party side by side. I have noticed that the longer they are with you, the more dialogue you experience.
Yachiyo today: You mess with me, you get the claws!
I am fighting battles with the Hound and Kamurosaki to earn points but each of them only give 2! Perhaps it is just as useful to go through the Wilds of each Village. If you earn 1 point for each enemy, their level does not matter!
30 Winter: The honeymoon is over!!! Subaru crept out of bed and left the house like a thief in the night without greeting me or making me lunch! I found him at Tsubame's stall. I had to invite him to the New Year celebration as I had no option to invite any one else but I almost hate him. I want my old life back!!!
To add injury to insult, Kai basically told me that together he and I were invincible. He also told me I should make the New Year Pilgrimage. Sadly there is no option to go with him. I loved going with him last year.
1 Spring: New Year's Day
I met Subaru at 10.00 for the first apilgrinage outside thr Spring God Shrine. He was standing there for abput two hpurs but would not go to the event with me until 10.
When I asked what his wish for the year was, he made a long confession about hos fearvof spiders! When we disvussed dancing tohether again, hr saulidvhe was noy food enough. On and on about his inferiority. Sad. He keeps taking about moving on, then shows he still is in the same old rut. At least he showed up though!
I chased every single person down to exchange New Year congratulations. I then took my Party to the Sage of Sweets island to fish and finally caught another Flounder. I also caught a Sole, not quite as rare but somewhat uncommon.
2 Spring: I spent the day hanging out with every one. Ulalaka went to Level 13 and gave me her Springtime dish. Yachiyo went to 13 and gave me her pawprint dish. I invited Watarase to the mountains and he became upset. Said he needed some time alone!
All this 'hanging out' caised mr ti miss dinner but when I went bavk after 9 Subaru net me, said it was okay to pull an 'all nighter' but not healthy!
3 Spring: Subaru asks if I would like to have children and I tell him I would. We go to the Shrine together and pray.
When we return, he hands me my lunch. No longer fish exclusively and that makes me hqppy. He gave me an audon yesterday. Today it is Tempura and he made a joke about loading it with Garlic. He is settling into marriage.
I asked akurama to eat with me at Yachiyo's. The food was too spicy for him so I offered to trade. He said if I acted from pity, he would destroy everything ai held dear in a gale.. yet afterwards said he enjoyed it.
Oddly enough, what he did not like was musing about monsters.
4 Spring:
In the FoE, Level 2, when I use tge sword to light the torch, oprning the way ahead: Kai shouts out: 'Nice, we did it! That,'s what happens when we put our heads together!'
As though he had anything to do with that, but it makes me smile. He is always so involved, I love it.
How amusing. After I had that thought about his imaginary role in that strategy, Yachiyo piped up asking:
'And how did you help, Kai?'
I really did have a feeling that putting Yachiyo next to Kai in the front of my Party would prove entertaining!
And yes, those are the enormous Shelob type spiders in Level 2 that emerge suddenly from the dark tunnels. Recently, at the New Year Pilgrimage, Subaru confessed he was afraid of spiders. I will have to put him as Number 1 in my Party to see how he behaves here. He is part of the group but is Number 5 and one seldom hears from them back there.
Even though technically married to Subaru on this path, having Kai next to me in battle makes him still my partner in a significant way.
When Subaru behaved so weirdly the day after our marriage, I was a little mean about him. In fact, he is a sweet husband. I do not want to read too much into it, but he no longer gives me the fish I detest constantly. It may have fish in it but he has given me Tempura Bowl twice now. I do miss Kai's raw meat gifts! (I suspect it may have been his daily shopping that then went into our fridge for a cooked dish later.
I am waiting now for the announcement that our prayers were answered and that I now am expecting a child. I suppose that will happen in a day or two.
Yachiyo appears to enjoy combat with a rather wicked sense of humour:
'Thanks for your patronage. Hee hee' as she defeats another Monster...
She never passes up a chance to hold Kai accountable verbally although she never will insist on actual payment.
Kai: 'Let's wipe these guys out.'
'I wish you'd wipe out your tab, too' she retorts.
I go home for dinner.
Subaru, after asking me to join him: 'I'm gonna enjoy this' and then declares he would ask me if I liked it but the smile on my face tells him everything he needs to know
Ten o'clock I take every one out to forage for mushrooms in Autumn Fields:
Kai: Sure, I got a little free time! Bring it on!
Yachiyo: Don't pick on them too hard, okay?
Matsuri suddenly tells me: Hey don't let the glasses fool you. Kurama's no genius. He's just a cranky old nerd.
7 Spring:
Yesterday Subaru was not at home at dinner time. Today he is.
One chest I missed behind a wall of ice in FoE L8. Use Sword Dance to light the torch on the other side of the ice curtain then run round to open the chest.

8 Spring: We took another trip to the Shrine. Woolby diagnosed the pregnancy and I asked for a boy who was charming and charismatic. I hope similar to Misha!
11 Spring: Counting the days now. A rather distressing event a couple of days ago at the Dragon Shrine, aka 'Home' when Subaru let out a loud scream. He had seen a spider! I told him I would take care of it and carried the tiny spider outside while Subaru watched, paralysed by fear. This is NOT a good paternal look.
Kai: 'Step aside, I'm comin' through!'
Yachiyo: Ooh, a treasure chest! Do you think it might have any gold coins? You know, something a cat burglar might fancy!
12 Spring: I really want to feel positive about my marriage to Subaru but tonight once agqin, I rush home to dinner and no one is there. I go out, come back... still no Subaru. He is in Kusatsu's baths!
When will this child be born and will it lend grace to this marriage at all?
13 Spring: The baby was born and we named it Ashleigh. He began at Level 22 Friendship. Only his eyes differ from Misha. They are the colour of topaz.
Subaru actually was home for dinner with little Ash..
They are both asleep before 9.
I see Mauro and speak to him. He reaches Lv 13 and gives me his Taste of Home dish
Kai also at Kusatsu's and says: "Love the sun but a moonlit stroll can ba fun too.'
'Your kid keeps buggin' me about my mask. I told him some things are meant to be kept secret just to get him off my case.'
It is now Year 18.
Summer 14:
There is a chest on a tall island that contains Golden Cabbage Seeds x 6. Go from Hsnging Bridge Save Point past the Tengu, glide and collect.
15 Spring: My new child Ashleigh awakens me with a heart shard and I am told by all the gods to go forth and collect them..So here we go once again.
Nine Tails Level 110 at Rakshasa Gorge.
Scarecrow Island
Where I had a devil of a time finding the arena. I had to use all the wind vents and then go down. This was the big Tanuki.
Now Dual Shell Island.
This was easy to find. Save point down to arena directly. Spectral Warrior 110.
Used fire sword and he went down fast.
Now Eastern Tri-shell Island
Again from Save Point straight down.
Cursed Tree 110
There are no options here. You have to return with the shards to meet with the Gods, decide to go to the Forest of Endings, stop at the Old Village where your spouse will tell you he will go with you, then find the Door in the Heavenly Realm and go through it level by level. I tried to go directly to the endpoint of Level 9. No joy.
In this bleak moment, after finding Subaru and Ash in their respective futons, no dinner prepared, Kai invited me to share his dinner at Yachi's.
17 Spring
I had to go through all nine levels but never saw a boss. At the end, I was able to go to Mihoshi Habaki and give her the shards without encountering Kamurosaki.
Once agqin, I accepted godhood. Who else possibly could apart from Kai who needs a throne now as a 'legion' to bridge the gap between human and oni.
