To Be or Not to Be... a Guardian Deity of Azuma

After accepting the sacred trust of becoming the Guardian Deity of Azuma, and experiencing dialogues where individuals spoke of it as an actuak choice that I had made, I began to wonder if alI could have declined the honour.

Foetunately I had a file saved where I was about to confront Kamurosaki at the end of 5he Forest of Endings...

So I went back in time and saw that it truly was a choice.  I had thought then that, if I had declined, she would have asked again and again until I agreed to don the mantle of godhood.

So one does have the ability, born of free will to 'just say NO'.

There are no evident benefits of becoming a god.  I am not even given a new outfit to wear.  As for the people and other gods of Azuma, some appear to accept my decision while others appear to resent me or doubt my abilities.

I decided however to keep my original decision intact for the folliwing reasons:

1.  I am married to a god and he is very happy with my 'promotion'.
2.  I have a son.  Why not accept a promotion I have earned?
3.  To accept godhood is to act with courage. And it represents my actual role in saving Azuma and is a declaration that I will not hesitate to use whatever is needed to keep Azuma safe.
To accept is to accept a permanent place in Azuma.  An Earthdancer could go elsewhere.  A Guardian Deity has to accept a permanent duty towards THIS land.
4.  A part of me wondered if it were arrogant of me to accept but I truly repudiate that.  In any case, I will go forward still as Guardian with the godhood given by Mihoshi Habaki.
5.  I am a monarchist and I believe in titles.  I am not going to be a hypocrite.

The reception of the news that you have been appointed to the supreme position is a little mixed but most people are happy about it and do not begrudge you the honour.

Another reason I accepted the job was the behaviour of the other gods, and especially Kanata, when the situation in Azuma became terrible.  They did not stand and fight.  They hid themselves away.

Kanata in particular as the highrst of gods did not earn any respect.  Now, however, as my Bonding Level increases with her, she shows more understanding and care for others.

On Fubuki's birthday:
And almost immediately after that, she went down in my estimation with this nasty remark:

I would love to hear why she believes she is entitled to godhood after running and hiding as a little girl.

And then this:

Kerp digging that hole, Kanata.  It is only because of Kai that you were forced out of hiding to help save Azuma!
