Birthdays Celebrated with a Gift from Every one in Azuma

It is impossible to have your birthday celebrated by every single character in your first year unless you choose a late birthday.   There are four major characters who will not be added to the Profile Menu until you make progress in the Main Quest.

The first are Kai and Ikaruga.  Both are in Azuma from thr start but you will find Ikaruga to be a nameless presence simply assessing the situation, usually standing outside the Spring God Shrine at night.  Kai you will find st Yachiyo's, usually after 5 at night, drinking.  He may speak if you try to talk to him, but only to dismiss you summarily.

You will have to fight Ikaruga before he becomes a resident of Azuma.

Subaru is next.  You must defeat him and the Black Dragon before he will become part of Azuma's population.  If you opt to allow him to die, that never will occur.

Finally and she may be last but not least, Clarice will come to Azuma after her final defeat.

There arw no limitations to your life in Azuma and you can take as long as you like but I discovered that you will receive birthday gifts from every one only if you are unmarried.  When you are married, you will receive gifts from Woolby and your spouse and perhaps a couple of other people.

I decided to test this after being very disappointed in the 2nd year when I was married to Kai and the only people who gave me birthday gifts were Woolby, Kai, Ulalaka, and only a couple of individuals.  I believe that, apart from Ulalaka they were people who did not give me a gift in the first year.

So when I began a new fate using the Orb, I decided to refrain from marrying again until I experienced my birthday.

Every single individual wished me a happy birthday and gave me a gift.  It is Year 7.

I received a number of precious gems, Golden crops, Giant Golden Crops and a couple of cooked dishes.

I was poised to marry Kai again after my birthday on 4 Autumn but suddenly realised it might give us a child on Kai's birthday.  Altbough my second child in another game was born on Kauli's abirthday on 20 Autumn and both birthdays can be celebrated, I would rather he need not share his with his future child.  I decided to wait a little and meanwhile set Mauro's Bonding Events in motion as well in one file.  
The other reason to delay is to complete the Pescapedia that still lacks 5 entries.

So here is my Birthday Strategy tip:  Go to the Orb right before your birthday and initiate a new fate.  Once you have celebrated, you either can return to your first life or carry on in the new one to marry again.  I do not think the second one can be saved unless you marry.

In any event, all gift items will be saved in both Fates.

How the Fateweaver Shrine Fates work in Guardians of Azuma

I read descriptions about this.  I read opinions of players who had different reasons for wanting or not wanting to do it. I am the sort of player who has back up files.  I saved a file at the point of planting the Plum Sapling where every eligible candidate was at Level 10, had gone through all Bonding Events and would accept my proposal if I made one. I went forward from there and married Kai, and had two children with him.  At this point, the game was given an update with new rewards and ability to increase Bond Levels.  In the file where I was married to Kai, I raised every character with a Profile to Level 12 to obtain a Life-sized Cut Out Recipe. All Villages were at Level 10 and I completed all the Pure Azuma Quests. I was promoted to god after returning the Heart Shards to Mihoshi Habaki. What I had not done was go through the Trials.
