Gifts for Discerning Monsters
It appears that no one really completed a guide for gifting Monsters in Guardians of Azuma. People wrote down the lists of 'drops' or products they obtain, but did not pursue the actual lists in any comprehensive fashion.
Part of the problem is, in my experience anyway, that every Monster is unique. A gift that works to send one King Wooly to your barn may fail with the next.
So months later, the AI is pulling information for these matters, but I have something still to offer that is potentially useful:
First of all, in my current file, I have a son whom I named Kai San but his default name is Umi. He is the second male option.
He makes two dishes with you at Level 6abf unlike some of the other children and other characters, he loves both of those. The other items he really loves are monster trophies and include Exquisite Fang and some other Exquisite items. I have yet to test all of them with him.
What is peculiar to me now is that the game is intent upon asking me for Exquisite items on the Ema Plaque menu. Peculiar because I have been through the entire Forest of Endings and accepted the highest position from Mihoshi Habaki. One would have thought I would be asked for Mysterious Items but perhaps those requests were never accepted included. Very often the Reward for iffering the Exquisite items requested is the Mysterious version. So it is very counterproductive now because I have more Mysterious items than I ever could use.
Nonetheless, I realised the best places to go for these were the Fleeting Flower Village and Goldblossom Mine.
And now I am fairly certain about something else:
I wrote oreviously that you can have two Monsters of the same type side by side. Use Iroha’s Fan on them both and one will accept a specific item while the other most often rejects that item. I think this is built into the game when you try to take the same monster again immediately.
So one Blue Oni Guard in the mine accepted the Quality Cloth but the second rejected it and accepted then a Quality Horn.
It is interesting to note that they love Quality items but give the higher level version in the form of Exquisite items.
Silver Steed on Island: tamed with Strong Fur
King Wooly: tamed with Medium Fur
Iron Tengu on Glacial Island: Quality Fletch
Moon Mushsprite: Heavenly Kingdom: Sleep Powder
Golden Gatling in Heavenly Kingdom: Olive Oil
Grizzled Bear Frostfang took Quality Claw
Buffamoo Frosrtfang took Strong Horn
Red Oni Archer Fleeting Flower took Strong Cloth
Spider took Quality Thread
Mystic Neko took Quality Cloth
Goldblossom Mine:
Blue Oni guard rejected Quality Horn but took Quality Cloth
Underworld:
Lantern Spectre: Spirit Cluster, rejected Quality Fang
High Level members of the Wooly family give both Medium Fur and Large Fur. Working on advancing the Skill Nodes that offer a higher level trophy randomly and equipping an Accessory that gives a better chance to receive rare items are ways to boost Large Fur offerings.
Also it is useful to know where to find the high level monsters that feature in advanced Requests:
Ruffamoo Level 160 found in FoE Level 9, as are Onis, Oni Archers, Colossal Onis, and a Horse.
Lanterns and Parasols found in FoE Level 5.
Lantern accepted Spirit Cluster. Parasol accepted
Mystic Nekomata found in Level 7.
