Let's Go Home, Woolby! Life with Kai
He certainly is my hero, and so misunderstood by others.
On our wedding anniversary:
For Kai, his marriage and family are everything. Ikaruga often speaks of his job and Mauro often speaks of travel and more adventures. Kai speaks most often of you and the children. I find those conversations very empowering.
*In the interest of full disclosure and fairness, Ikaruga said much the same on HIS birthday. I think I am protective of Kai because people are so dismissive and negative about him.
(I see as well how I am my best self with him. I do not nag, do not accuse, simply accept him as he is and wait patiently for a moment like this one. I asked him if he planned to wear the masque for the wedding ceremony. When he sais he did, I did not try to change his mind. As Yachi remarked, he is more sensitive and insecure than one might think. She called him in fact 'a timid little god' and that is the truth, despite his height and boisterous voice.
I guess, however, the most significant attraction is the way he treata me as an equal, as a partner, whether in battle or at home:
'I feel invincible when we're together! A thousand - no, a MILLION people couldn't possibly take us down!'
No one else sees me the way he sees me or treats me quite the same way.
And finally, some one echoes what I feel and believe about Kai:
Updated on 6 December
with the visit to the Fateweaver Shrine to pray for a second child.
I just saved Azuma again when my first child with Ikaruga found Mihoshi Habaki's Heart Shards.
That led me yet again through the various levels of the Forest of Endings and the final conversation with Mihoshi Habaki where once again I accepted godhood at her hands...
Some people are shocked if you accept but let me ask you... who better? Leave it to Kanata again? She can have some of her little duties but when the going gets tough, she turns into a child to hide.
I will not falter.
Then I searched my soul over that simple declaration: 'Let's go home, Woolby!'
Did I really want to go home?
Am I happy when I do?
I am almost holding my breath for the day when I can marry Kai again.
I think that tells you everything.
I am not quite at ease with the Orb yet however, so I saved two files where I had gone through it all and accepted what Kai called my 'promotion'.
I did not even rest upon my laurels for one day. With a back up saved, I went immediately to the Fateweaver Shrine at 10.00 p.m. a few moments after the fateful conversation with MH and chose to initiate a second fate.
I went forward there to sleep and early the next morning, simply speaking to Kai advanced his Level to 18. Just shows you how much time I spent with him throughout this game. He gave me his special Oni-Giri. I told him I loved him and he will meet me tomorrow.
I have to admit that what made me go to the Orb so quickly was the fight with Kamurosaki. It was not Ikaruga who said anything or did anything helpful. It was Kai who declared:
'Looking a little rough there, Chief. Need a shoulder to lean on?'
I realised suddenly though that, in this new life, I am only an Earth Dancer. I gave up my promotion to follow my heart.
The fact is that no one ever nowadays would offer me a shoulder to lean on IRL (I learned that abbreviation from Kurama). So when Kai said it, I almost cried and then realised why I keep going back to him despite his awful loud snoring and the grunts he makes on our fishing excursions.
All the dates with Mauro are tortuous in a sense. My character wants to break up with him and he likewise knows there is a conflict of interest inherent in the relationship. He initially never had any intention of adopting Azuma as his home.
Kai, on the other hand, from the moment you tell him that you love him, incorporates you into his life and every plan for the future. He announces his love for you to the world, then makes certain you are there to witness every important moment, including his defeat at the hands of Ura. I do continue to believe he knew full well he would be defested. How else to persuade Ura to take over in the Underworld?
By the way, in the game where I had accepted the title and was married to Kai, he was delighted to speak of my 'promotion'. I shall have to go to the other file to see how Ikaruga reacts as my husband.
If any one were to ask me if I recommended him as a partner, I would say without hesitation that he may be one of the best. He simply was not the best for me, and part of the reason was that I took such delight in Kai despite his flaws and too frequent mention of hangovers. I do not drink. I have known far too many people who became irresponsibly cruel when 'under the influence' but Kai is nothing like that. I remind myself as well that this sort of ancient god was given alcohol as a traditional offering.
I also see there.is much more gossip about Kai's drinking than any actions that show it to be a reality. Kai is home every night and in fact, home at the lunch hour as well quite frequently, and when out and about he more often can be found at a Shrine or contemplating the beauty of nature than drinking at any izakaya.
I am meeting Kai presently to hear his response to my declaration of love. I will pretend I have not heard it before, but it always gives me a little thrill. I was, after all, once the girl who documented every 'heart event' in Harvest Moon...
Who is Kai? He is not an anti-hero by any means. In fact, I would suggest he is the real hero in Azuma. He gives up EVERYTHING to stay on the surface. People may call him stupid, but it is he who provides solutions to every problem and forces others to accept theor responsibilities.
Kai's official title is 'The Valiant Herald of Rebellion'. His godly duty really is to shake things up. I never saw anything to suggest that he ever committed a single evil act. He walled himself off initially from Azuma's affairs but so did the other gods and they had Shrines and loyal followers, when he was homeless.
What makes me love Kai is the fact that he truly involves me in every significant decision he makes. When he responds to my declaration of love, he talks about all the moments we shared. He is anything but egocentric
He helps every one, although he will deny it!
The fact that the cat Yachiyo is so protective of him and takes care of him, never forcing him to pay his 'tab' is very significant.
I am going to the Orb tomorrow. I will save a file where I remain here with Ikaruga.
Request on Board for 10 Mysterious Horn gives 7 Fire Crystals and 7 Love Crystals
Pay attention to the Board and take the Requests when the Rewards consist of items you need or will not be obtained easily by other means..
20 Summer:
Foolishly, I returned to Azuma 'footloose and fancy free' but not really as I made a beeline for Kai. Before I could interact at all, he invited me to the Fireworks Festival and I said 'yes'. So I guess this is not the time to experiment with other results
20 Summer: I am going with Kai. In this first game, I had not even met him in time for this Festival in the first year. I happen to know he loves Purple and the bigger and louder the better.
20 Summer: Fireworks Festival.
I made my declaration of love, experienced his enthusiastic response and have experienced the first date when he told all and sundry we were 'dating'.
He agreed this morning to meet me tomorrow at the entrance to Summer Village, then reminded me to be on time, on the beach at 7 tonight.
Matsuri's little event cannot be triggered before 10.00 a.m.
She thanked me for helping last year and asked me to help again.
Perhaps I will run through a couple of materials:
Materials that look purple but are not:
Dragonic Stone makes a blue firework
Lustrous Gem makes a blue firework
Ice Crystal makes blue
Water Crystal makes blue
Mysterious Pauldron makes a red one
Amethyst not surprisingly make purple but does it register better than the other purple materials that cost less?
Crystal Skull makes purple.
I chose the Crystal Skull. Hope it does not prove to be a different colour. Matsuri is a bit negligent after all. I chose the Dark Crystal last time for Kai.
I took this opportunity to change my name to my own name. Is that not strange that I wamt him to recognise me although he is an artificial construct?
I then looked at the Grand Mystic Talisman with the thought of giving it to Ikaruga but I only have two Rune Crystals. They are very rare.
The finer ones all require precious gems.
I will make him the Holy Split Sea Talisman. Sounds awfully Mosaic but had a good punch with 2258 M ATK. When I feel ready for the Trials, I will give every one the very best.
My reluctance to use my small store of rare items was triggered by the new Cut out Recipes one receives at Lv 12 from every one. In the game where I was married to Kai and had a better grasp of Azuma from the very start, I had more than sufficient materials for every decoration and indeed to make four of each. In this game, I had difficulty making one in some cases and more than one would have exhausted my stores. For example, Mauro's requires Golden Fletch. I made one but saw that two would leave me with nothing. There are weapons and equipment that use the Golden Fletch as well.
I think I have a Monster in the barn who might give them but if not, fighting a Golden Tengu should.
Cautionary Note: When I was married to any one, the number of individuals who gave me actual gifts on my birthday was very limited. Woolby and my spouse gave me gifts. I think possibly three other people, two of which had not been able to do so in the first year, gave me gifts.
In this Orb-induced life, I am single once again. Technically, it is the 7th year, because I had a son with Ikaruga before I used the Orb. I must try to remember NOT to propose to Kai until I have celebrated my birthday on 4 Autumn. I need to confirm why the number of gifts was cut drastically after the first year. My Friendship levels were high with every one.
I noticed something about birthdays in general now. When it is some one's birthday and you choose 'Celebrate Birthday', in many cases, there is no event as there was in the early days. You give the gift and that is it. No villagers clapping or anything else. So it becomes no different from simply giving a gift.
And this is why no one can take Kai's place:
And then moments like this:
So, last night I found a Bear Toppler near the end of Lv 1 FoE and an Oni Toppler on Mushroom Island. Very unusual result.
23 Summer: Another 'date' with Kai. None of our dates have been romantic and all have involved other people, but I love him for it. He wholeheartedly embraced me as his partner, dragging me along to the Underworld twice to witness his important declarations. This one was with Lord Ura. Kai is smarter than he allows people to see. I believe he knew he needed to lose the sumo match. After all, he had made the decision to appoint Ura as his representative before he confronted him. He allowed Ura to accept with honour and dignity, despite the verbal slur of 'get your spikey tail out here'. He genuinely was concerned about Ura as well, despite the fact that Ura had usurped his position and made him a homeless refugee.
I like sophisticated men and I love words and the clever use of them, but I hate poseurs. Give me a Kai over a Kurama any day, although there are moments when Kurama touches my heart. Kotaro genuinely worships him as a hero. His concern for children is real, although he would not allow them to throw beans at him because of his 'dignity'. Kai embraced it, despite the fact that it was a negative tradition towards oni historically and then not only had fun with it but turned the significance around. Again, clever while appearing a little dense. It is similar to the way he conceals his handsome face behind the masque. After that event, we were in the area of the underworld accessed through the Rear. We were able to complete some Ema Quests to defeat, onis, a colossal oni, and parasols.
I decided to find some of the Frogs that had escaped me this time round. I have had a terrible time with both the Jizo Shrine and the last Frog on Graveyard Island. I had found these in the other game, so what was wrong this time?
What was wrong was the place from which I was trying to reach the higher island. You do NOT use the warp. You climb rocks and then are in a place where you can clean the Jizo Shrine and cross a bridge on that high island. As always, there is a kind of 'sweet spot' on the land that will bring you success where if you move to a slightly different spot, you will fail miserably. I am not fond of these puzzles! Azuma has something for every one though. Rune Factory always included mazes and puzzles.
The Frog that remained in the Winter Wilds was very simple to access. Somehow I had overcomplicated it. Simply go into a little alcove. You need not go high on a mountain or descend to the lowest water level for THIS one. I had done all of those!
Two Frogs remain. One is that pesky puzzle in the Twilight Gaol.
24 Summer: As I expected, Woolby greeted me this morning, blushing slightly as he brought up the topic of marriage. He gave me the White Plum Sapling and the Sacred Drink Recipe and essentially told me to be honest and follow my heart. I planted the sapling immediately, knowing now that I will not be able to make the proposal unless I have both items. I may actually have a Sacred Drink in my inventory from my past life with Ikaruga. Must look into that. In any case, I did not initiate romantic bonding events with any one else this game so it only will come up with Kai.
I collected the remaining Frog from the Heavenly Realm. It is the one perched high on a rock that requires a leapfrog activity across the water. As usual, the members of my Paety gleefully showed me how THEY did it again and again while I fell into the water more than once. I am capable of doing it but stress or impatience are my worst enemies.
Now the only Frog is the one in the secret room at the Twilight Gaol. Probably will spend all day on THAT now.
Fortunately I have no pressing engagements.
And yet, I realised I had to be missing a Jizo Statue still. I also had one blank entry on the Azuma Skies Menu.
I flew to the Isle of Fog, found the Save Point and saved.
I looked at every single map and saw one outstsnding Jizo Shrine in Autumn near the Remote Shrine Save point. In fact, it was not difficult to reach using my own strength and bare hands. I realise now I overcomplicate so much when I try to use the Parasol when a simple scramble over the terrain will do. With the parasol I often hang helplessly slightly below the place I need to reach.
And Woolby then tells me: 'I think we have prerty much cleaned every Jizo Statue in Azuma. A job well done if I do say so myself.'
Received the Jizo Statues from the Jizo Statuea. Went to Croakie and he gave me Ribbit Statue. Now I have completed all the Pure Azuma Quests...
Actually not. Still have the Pescapedia incomplete!
I never noticed I was low on specific naterials in my other game. What I need are Diamonds and Exquisite Cloth. I went to Goldblossom Mines because the Blue Onis there give Exquisite Cloth. I tried to tame with Quality Cloth, with Stong Horn, Strong Claw. No joy!
I fought the Hound again there and he dropped a Diamond.
The Ema Quests now ask for Exquisite Cloth to trade for Mysterious Cloth. I have plenty of Mysterious Cloth!
I also need Golden Fletch. All the chickens and Tengu CAN give it but have not been doing that.
28 Summer:
Today the same Blue Oni took a Quality Claw. I just hope it gives Exquisite Fabric in the barn now.
I always feel sad when I defeat the Gold Mustang.
Takumi shouts: Haha! Getting stronger every day'
And I think: 'Getting more obnoxious every day.'
He is such a curious character. Sometimes I really like him, but sometimes he is a little obnoxious especially in combat.
I tried to tame the Freezing Tengu at the end of the frozen Frostfang Cavern. He never came low enough to be affected. And then only gave the green feathers when he fell in combat. I see a notation in my Bestiary that they can be ridden.'
Might try it with the one in my barn.
The White Plum in the Shrine garden is mature now. Six more days to my birthday.
29 Summer: I am spending my days trying to increase seed levels, obtaining materials I need or rather want, trying to complete the Pescapedia and trying to raise all Bond Levels to 12 so I get the cutouts from every one. I have most of them. Need to raise Subaru to 15 to get my own cutout.
I am looking at Woolby's nightly reports and cannot understand how the houses I have on the ground in Summer that should be limited to a maximum of 28 do NOT accomodate that total! What does it mean?
I counted my actual housing and it was only for 26.
29 Summer: Having seen in my Bestiary rhat all the Tengus can be ridden, I created a Party with two Tengu and a low level Oni. Riding the Tengu was interesting but combat was horrible. The creature pecked and pecked a beautiful White Horse without totally defeating it. Kind of sickening.
30 Summer: Raining in Spring and Autumn today. Went to the Isolated Islet in Spring. Caught an Ancient Fish.
Hisui is in my Party.
Quite the treasure you've picked up. 'Finders keepers' as they say.
And suddenly everything is auspicious!
'One more push should finish this!'
Getting only Mysterious Fletch... no Golden Fletch.
1 Autumn:
Almost have all the Level 12 Cutouts. Finally received one from Tsubame today.
At Level 13, Subaru gives Dragonscale Skewers.
3 Autumn:
Kanata and Zaza both reached Level 12 and gave their cutouts.
Fishing in the rain at noontide from the pier in the Summer Village, I added three new fiah to my Pescapedia:
Marlin
Swordtip Squid
Blowfish
The Blowfish was the last one remaining in the water.
I also caught:
Yellowtail
Bonito
Cutlassfish
4 Autumn: Zaza's Birthday and my Birthday.
Today I proved what I had suspected: it is your marital status that determines what you receive on your birthday.
In the game where I was married, only my husband and a couple of other characters gave me gifts.
Now here, I embarked on a new fate mid-summer, deciding I would marry Kai. I experienced all of the intimacy 'dating events', have him at Level 20, planted the White Plum, watched it mature, but then decided to hold off my proposal until I experienced my birthday.
It was worth the wait. I am impatient by nature, but I managed mainly by not plucking the White Plum branch that would allow me to propose. And the result was this:
Every single character with a Profile wished me a Happy Birthday AND gave me a gift. It is not that I really need the items. Woolby always will give a Rune Crystal I believe for your birthday. I received some precious gems, some giant crops, some golden Crops and giant Golden Crops... but it is the fact that your birthday is celebrated properly by every one that is significant to me. I saved in another file so I can see if the gifts are slightly random or will be repeated. I remember that Mauro gave me an Amber in the first year. This year, he gave me an Emerald. In fact I received three Emeralds. Only Murasame gave me my actual birthstone. Kai gave his trademark gem, an Amethyst.
8 Autumn: I am trying to catch the last of the Pescapedia entries before I marry any one, keeping the file open until then.
I have caught Autumn Flounder now at the Isle of the Drowned. I never catch basic Flounder!
I think I caught the Golden Octopus at TriShell. Just need Sunfish and Seerfish. I think I caught them off Remote Island in Summer but will try to document this. Two days to the Lantern Festival and dodging invitations.
9 Autumn:
I found an Oni Toppler in the FoE Level 4, near the start where there are two Oni Archers and a mushroom growing on either side of a suspension bridge!
I went there to tame one of those Hawk Tengus that come down to the ground on that narrow road. I tamed it with a Quality Claw. I hope to get Golden Feathers again from se source!
10 Autumn: I saved the Lantern Festival with Kai. I felt Kurama was rather unpleasant when I interacted with him but he softened at the end.
Kai and Mauro are similar and I wonder if Matsuri would be similar to them. They both make an effort to speak softly and treat the event as it deserves with reverence. They speak about this before it begins.
11 Autumn: Had Mauro's last bonding event at 12.00. Went to the Fishing Isle after and finally caught a Sunfish. Unfortunately, Watarase is being very elusive nowadays. It was a little after 9.00 p.m. and the Map showed him at his Fishery but even his sign vanished in front of my eyes.
I have two files saved. I can marry either Kai or Mauro or both using two files. I still wonder how much data can be saved without errors!
So now I had done all the Pure Azuma Quests in two files. But I was wrong... despite the fact that my villagers had caught dozens of Gibelio, I never had caught one!
12 Autimn: i gave Kurama a Sandwich for his birthsay. He told me that if Kataro had not reminded him, he would not have noticed it was his birthday.
So yet another fishing day ahead... the Gibelio is not really rare but if it is the last fish you need to catch, it appears more elusive!
I went back to the Fishing Isle because in theory one pond is salt and the other frssh. I thought I had it right, but kept catching Throbby and Glitter Snappers as well as Golden Salmon which can be found in both... so I went to the Limestone Caverns to fish in the little pool there. I fished it out without ever finding one.
Now I tbought about tbis logically. In the skies, one would expect a Summer landscape to have Sumner fish, so I made a beeline for Gales Pass and I
found the fishing area there (a cross between a stream and a pool). It was almost fished out when I caught Gibelio but caught one I did. Rushed to Watarase's Fishery. He was not to be seen but his sign was out. I tried to knock him up but he did not appear and the actual sign vanished again after the second tap. He can be so bloody elusive! So my prize must wait until morning and I think I will propose then as well.
13 Autumn: Holiday! Watatase NOWHERE to be seen! His icon of course remains in Winter.
I guess it will be a fighting day. I go to FoE Level 9 and tame a Buffamoo with a Quality Horn. Perhaps get rid of lesser milk producers now. Still not increasing my Golden Feathers...
Hisui shouts: Straighten up and recover, quickly!
No one appears to be wounded, however. Annoyed I cannot propose because I promised myself I would take all Pescapedia rewards first. I am sick of false memories!
I wonder where I can get a Golden Feather now. Thinking perhaps Veyron when he unleashes the Giant Chicken out of that magical suitcase of his...
I now am going through Level 5 of the FoE again, hoping for a Golden Fletch drop.
Mauro: No need to exert yourself, Hisui. I can handle this myself!
Hisui: Hmph! Don't treat me like some old granny!
This is a good level for requests requiring Parasol defeats as there are Accursed Eyes here.
I tamed a Sparrow Tengu with Quality Fletch and then found an Oni Toppler on the log next to those two Tengu and the hut.
So rhis poses a question: am I finding more Oni Topplers now that I completed the game or because I am kitted out for rare drops? Mushrooms are not a rare drop and actually I am wearing the Lucky Loupe which just says financial windfall... not the luck I need!
Well, I found Watarase a little before 6 seated on the long bench outside Cuilang's house after coming away from dinner with Kotaro. I actually had the option to show him my Pescapedia. Much to my surprise, he warped us both to his Fishery. He then gave me my rewards,: the Angler's Basket and three Recipes:
Sunfish Sashimi
Abalone Sauté
Gourmet Shrimp Pilaf
Now here is where my day took an unexpected turn.
I went to the Shrine and collected the White Plum Branch. I located Kai on the Summer Map and rushed to Kusatsu's Inn to propose at last.
He was not to be seen! I then realised he was soaking in the men's spa.
I waited a bit but he failed to emerge. I thought, well, too bad for him.
Saw Mauro was in the Speing Village seated near the Request Board.
So I proposed to Mauro. I have given my marriage with him a separate post. He is a wonderful spouse, but I cannot shake off my deep attraction to Kai.
Four days after marrying Mauro, I returned to the file where I had plucked the White Plum Branch and went to find Kai.
This time I found him and proposed.
The stupidity here is that I spent an hour or more landscaping my Villages in the file where I married Mauro. I should have done all of that before I proposed to any one!
IRL, I have been staying in the file where Kai and I now have a daughter. It is a few days to the end of Winter and I wpuld like a second child before I return to life with Mauro.
There is both good and bad when viewing the differences between a single file with multiple marriages and using separate files for each.
If you have a single file and use the Orb to go from one ro another, time passes in all lives there but you do keep all Level increases and all items you obtain.
It can be fun to decorate diffetently for each 'life' as long as you have cleared the Pure Azuma Quests so have access to all buildings and decorations.
Always best to refrain from experiencing the romantic events with more than one character in any timeline. Best to do one, go forward to marriage and creating a family, and THEN use the Orb to go through the romantic path with some one else.
One reason I felt i had to do it now is that it is 18 Autumn in the other file and Kai's birthday is on the 20th. I could not bear the thought of wishing him happy birthday while married to another man!
I still have the file where I am married to Mauro. I just want this life as well.
After the Fateweaver Shrine, I go alone and tame a golden Mustang and Tsaburo on Scarecrow Island with Quality Fur.
Married to Kai again and very content.
Unfortunately, the Golden Fletch is in the Mauro file but I took a Tengu and Monster Cockadoodle along with Kai today. I am becoming confused. Tamed a Buffamoo at Lv 9 FoE with Quality Horn only to discover that makes three in my barns, all of them tamed here.
I rushed home at 7 and he and dinner were waiting.
So much not my style, but he follows this with:
And I never forget that 'date' of ours when he made onigiri and forced me to 'wolf them down' because he was doing odd jobs to try to pay off his debt.
As I go out again:' Getting dark. Be careful on your way home.'
17 Autumn:
Today I went out alone after reorganising my Villages. A big Barn is better than a regular one because one villager can tend 8 animals.
FoE Lv 1 I got a Golden Fletch from one of those dark chickens and an Oni Toppler at midway point near the Frog.
Woolby: You know, I think I want fish for dinner tonight.
Me: Wait, so you're not an herbivore?
How many times do I have to tell you I'm NOT A WOOLY?
Woolby: So which do you like better with breakfast: bread or rice?
Hmm... probably bread.
Right? Can't go wrong with that in the morning!
Such an odd creature!
20 Autumn:
Kai's Birthday
My timing! At 6.00 a.m. he asks me if I would like to have a child. We go to the Fateweaver Shrine to pray for a child.
I am lwxt aline there, but when I return to the Dragon Shrine, Kai is at the table and gives me my lunch. I then choose 'Celebrate Birthday' and every one gathers to do so. Now that I think about it, perhaps this is the first time. I was late in bringing him into Azuma properly in this game.
And then he tells me:
So, on any one's birthday, other people will talk about it and the gift they intend to give. I went to Yachiyo but she never mentioned it was Kai's birthday.
I looked for Kurama then. He mentioned it, but was true to form... nothing about any gift!
It is interesting that every one talks about Kai and his drinking, but today I found him (as on many days) at the Spring God Shrine not only once but at two separate times in the day.
Matsuri though is the worst. She constantly insults Kai.
And then we have Kanata, who patronises and at the sane time, further promotes the false image of Kai:
I never knew Kai to demand anything except for me to restore his power. I believe it was Kanata who only came out of hiding when we made the strongest alcoholic drink in the world, the Orochi Killer, for her.
At least Ulalaka really does wish to honour him:
She says: (Hurray!) Today is Kai's birthday, and to celebrate, I've prepared some excellent drinks.
Truth be told, she is more obsessed with alcohol than he is. She wanted to break out the alcohol before we even had our wedding ceremony. Fubuki had to rein her in!
In fact, she just gave me this Request:
And then Kotaro:
I live with Kai, you little boy Tanuki, and I can tell you he had made my lunch by 6.00 a.m. We then went to the Fateweaver Shrine. When he returned home, he immediately went to the Spring God Shrine to meditate and pray. Not really the hopeless drunk you are describing.
24 Autumn:
Yesterday, I discovered Kai would go into battle without his masque if I wished. What was upsetting was that I qent home for dinner as usual and he did not offer me anything. It was a bit later than usual, about 7.40. I hope that was the reason and not because I made him remove his masque.
Today Kanata, seated on a bench outside Yachi's, said:
27 Autumn: I came home after 11 to find Kai awake, walking about the shrine. He told me how excited he was to think of another addirion to our family. Usually he is sound asleep in his futon by 9.00. I was surprised.
28 Autimn: Kotaro is in my Party with Kai.
Kai: Bring them on. Bring them all on!
Kotaro: Yeah! Get 'em, Lord Kai! I bet you monsters are scared now! You're about to get a whoopin'!
Kai then says: 'You're fightin' too, little dude!
That is pure generosity of spirit, Kai empowering Kotaro, reminding him of his contribution.
Kotaro: Well, whatja thinking about, Lord Kai?
Kai: Hmm. Well, I was just wondering if I could somehow pay off my whole tab in one go.
Kotaro: Oh, so you ARE gonna pay it off. I figured you'd just dine and dash forever
Kai: Heh. Might be nice, but it'd never work out
In fact, here he demonstrates how he wants to be a good role model to Kotaro.
Cluckadoodle midway through Forgotten Grove gave Golden Fletch.
Kotaro: Yeah! I won! Didya see that, Lord Kai? I absolutely destroyed 'em!
Kai: Hell, yeah! Good stuff, Kotsro! You were killin' it out there! Keep it up!
Kotaro: See? Never stood a chance!
Kai: Cocky little guy, aren't ayou? Well, hey, it's good to have confidence.
In the following conversation, he has a clear intention from the start, but he is a 'timid little god' who finds it difficult to express himself so he does it through the vehicle of recollecting a dream:
When I took the warp on FoE Lv 9 that leads to the Mining Rock on top of blocks, I received a Sapphire from that rock.
When you fight the Hound at the end of Goldblossom Mines, you get a Diamond.
Fight Clarice at Serendipity for an Amethyst.
At 6.20 p.m.
Kai: Welcome back!
Fighting Kamurosaki again, I exchanged the Earring for the Star Pendant and suffered from a status ailment. Kai immediately rushes over to me instantly: You alright? Keep it together!
30 Winter: After Woolby's announcement of the First Pilgrimage and advice to go round to every one tofay giving thanks qnd good wishes for the New Year, I have an event with Kai.
He asks if I wish to have a child.
Isabel insists on coming with us to the Fateweaver Shrine. It is precisely a momth since she was born.)
Year 13, Spring
All that really remains are the four Final Trials, but I hope for additional updates and surprises.
4 Spring: Murasame's Birthday. Waiting for an announcement of my secknd blessed event...
Look what Papa Kai made tonight, all by himself. Never brags about his cooking, but really makes an effort. And the little plates have gold rims.
No matter what I am doing, I try to make it back home before 8. Tonight he and Isabel were at the table in the Shrine at 5. When I entered, they both stood and left the table.
When I returned after 7.30, Kai announced he was waiting for me for dinner.
When I fought the Black adragon today, I got 7 Black Dragon Scales and 5 White Dragon Fur and 3 Dark Crystals. I need to see what XP it gives.
Now at 599 until 170.
Only got 2 points for the Corpse Tree!
In Forgotten Grove:
Sakaki: Looks like I've still got it.
My old instincts are coming back.
